Steatotic

This word refers to Fatty Liver Disease. There is literally a build up of fat in the liver. Common causes are obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, medications, autoimmune diseases, excessive alcohol consumption, and genetic conditions.

For most people, liver damage from this can be reversed. If left untreated, fatty liver disease can progress to a more complicated and serious liver condition.

Symptoms can include: an ache in the right upper abdomen, extreme fatigue and weakness, loss of appetite, swollen belly, unexpected weight loss, and yellowing of the skin and eyes.

It can usually be managed by life style changes.

Top foods for liver health: coffee, oatmeal, green tea, garlic, berries, grapes, grapefruit, prickly pears, plant foods in general, nuts, olive oil, and fatty fish .
