slightly raised ALP

Diagnosed with Pbc last Feb through routine blood test, very high LFT'S, no symptoms, ultrasound normal, fibroscan 7.5, after taking urso within 3 weeks bloods were all normal except Alp was 135, Consultant said I probably had a mild case which I was very pleased about, I have been getting bloods done every 3 months and all normal except Alp is sticking at around 142, Consultant didn't seem concerned but I am wondering if this is anything to be worried about because I am a worrier, will this cause any damage at all

since we have pbc, our alk phos will be higher than normal even with treatment. Under 150 is okay. This is what my hepatologist tells me.

There are 2nd line meds to go with urso to bring it down if your doctor feels that it is necessary.

Hi,

135 is within the normal range. So no need to worry :)

I have alp fluctuating between 350 and 400, and my hepatologist is aiming to bring them down to at least 200.

135-142 are good numbers. You shouldn't worry at all. 200 and below is normal for PBC.

I am so sorry I missed your post. Everyone was 'spot on' with their replies. Your numbers are great! Keep up with the Urso. Only thing I smiled about was being told you must have had a mild case - it's like being only slightly pregnant. Sounds like all is going well with what's being done for you. Live life! don't let PBC rule it..... finding PBC early is really the key for the Urso to help keep those bile ducts open and letting the liver function as it should. You are doing wonderfully!

Thank you Donna, I think he meant I responded immediately to the urso, within 3 weeks which was good after 8 months of really high LFT'S, I just wish I could stop worrying about it

Just try to remember that worrying about something you have no control over takes the time and energy away from something that is right in front of you that could make you happy. Control what you can control..... I have a suggestion for doing this if you are interested. Feel free to send me a private 'chat' message anytime too.
