I am nor aware of a time for food and drink- the cholestyramine reacts with bile acids as opposed to food. Many people, for example, are told to take one just before and just after breakfast- so that would suggest it's OK to eat straight after. (Would be nice to get rid of taste too!!)

Hi janetfolley

I used to take cholestyramine for the itch. 1 sachet before breakfast and 1 sachet after. It seems that food is okay however it is the time that you take medication such as URSO which needs to be time spaced. From what I remember it was 4 to 6 hours after but your pharmacist should be able to help you if you are unsure. You may also find that the patient information leaflet (PIL) will give some guidance.
