In my case no it didn’t show up. I had CT scans with and without contrast on my liver for something unrelated to PBC my liver looked fine. A specific blood test showed l had the antibodies. To confirm PBC l had a liver biopsy. Diagnosed in 2018 with PBC and been on URSO ever since.

I thought AMA marker alone can't determine PBC, you need to have AST, ALT, ALP also.

I had elevated AMA marker before but AST, ALT and ALP are normal so the doctor said I don't have PBC. I heard if AST/ALT ratio greater than 1 indicates cirrhosis which I have but my doctor dismissed it. my stool is lighter color than usual which is a sign of not having enough bile. I also have indigestion, muscle pain and constipation that no doctor can solve.

The liver doctor refuse to order any further test. He insists that my liver is fine. I don't know what to believe.

I was diagnosed from the AMA. The only blood test at the time that was raised was the gamma gt at 250. Tests have progressively gotten worse, but now the urso has helped and even the gt has come down to 99. I didn't believe I had PBC when first diagnosed, just from a blood test.

Thanks. I need to ask my doctor for gamma gt test.

yes it was for 6 months before l had the specific blood test that pointed to PBC and the liver biopsy confirmed it. My liver levels are now normal since taking URSO and a recent scan showed no damage thankfully. I do have sjogrens and lupus which usually go in in hand with PBC
