Yes. I do get them if I skip a dose or two then when I take it I’ll get a headache. I have chronic migraine so it’s hard to tell any other time. I do get headaches all the time. I actually have had a headache since Monday and it’s Saturday. Had a migraine on Weds. & Thursday. I’m just starting to feel better now actually. So I’m not sure if the meds have anything to do with those or not but I’ve had issues with headaches since I was a little girl. I’m sure it doesn’t help but what’s the alternative really. Good luck

I’m sorry you aren’t well all week Cstar. Does any migraine meds ease your migraine / headaches. I stopped Urso for a couple days to test whether I stopped the headaches, and it did. But then restarting Urso, triggered headache again so I’m wondering is it because I stopped and started ? It’s hard to tell. Nothing seemed to lift it - ibrufen, cocodamol or paracetamol. I hope you feel a lot better today

I think when I was first diagnosed with PBC I was told to only take paracetamol if I needed a painkiller. Have you checked that you are on correct dosage of Urso.

I’m taking what the consultant prescribed so I imagine he calculated it correctly.

I do get occasional headache but I think it’s more hormonal than to do with the medication

sorry to hear that Kingy68. I would’ve had hormonal headaches before hysterectomy hence why I think now headaches are being caused by the Urso acid. Hope yours ease .

Hi Deemum,

I don’t get headaches from Urso. From age 13 I had chronic migraine. About 2 months before PBC diagnosis and starting Urso I’d started eating gluten free. My migraines dropped from regular to almost nothing. Some people with PBC are gluten sensitive or have coeliac disease. In my case I think it was just gluten sensitivity.

I just thought I’d mention it in case it does have any relevance, but it may not at all in your case. I don’t know if Urso would have been a trigger for headaches for me if I hadn’t been gluten free when I started it.

I hope you and others are doing much better with regard to headaches very soon.

hi Turquoise2075

Thanks for replying. That’s interesting about gluten and coeliacs. I have wondered if I have an intolerance to gluten / wheat / or dairy even. With bloating, headaches and bowel issues I have wondered. I might try a gluten free week or two see how it goes. Thanks for the info . Take good care

Thank you Deemum, you take good care too.

I also learned last August that I have a very strong dairy allergy (specifically the casein protein in cow dairy. I have it with goat dairy too but not as strong). The food allergy test also showed a strong beef allergy and mild lamb allergy. It turns out dairy was causing a lot of inflammation for me. I no longer get sinus congestion and infections now either.

Microbiome testing showed gut dysbiosis and intestinal permeability. I’ve since read clinical research linking those things with PBC, and my naturopath who organised the testing suspected the link. I’m much improved eliminating certain foods and with supplements he’s added in. My gut is working and feeling much better.

I still get the occasional headache, usually hormone-related, but much less often than before. So I think patterns of chronic inflammation had a lot to do with migraines for me.

Just thought I’d mention all that in case it helps.

thank you. So appreciate the info. A food allergy test sounds a good idea.
