Has anyone else experienced stomach pain and nausea when taking Oclavia ?

I started taking 5 mg once a day in January 2022 and have increased it to 10 mg this week. I have started having stomach pains and Nausea which lasts most of the day and gets worse when I’ve eaten.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

I haven’t tried Oclavia but I found that with Urso. I take Urso on a full stomach and then I was fine. Maybe it would be the same for Oclavia.

Thanks for your reply. I also take Urso, but I have decided to reduce the Oclavia because it was making me feel so ill.

I had no issues with 5 mg Ocaliva. My Alk phos went up a bit so we tried 10 mg(I was given a choice to increase or not). I tried it but never again. After a week I had nausea, zero energy, pain (not ache) in URQ and bloated. My dr dropped me back to 5 mg and all of those issues went away. And my Alk phos came back down 38 points.

Thank you for your reply. That’s exactly how I felt , I decided to reduce it yesterday to 5 mg and already feel better today. I have emailed the liver team to ask if they can contact me so that we can discuss it.

I felt so ill this week though that I really don’t want to ever try to increase it again.

Do you mind me asking what your ALPA is ?

Mine is 206 and they want it below 200, but I don’t think that my numbers are too bad in comparison to what they used to be .

When diagnosed in 2017, Alk phos was 248. Ocaliva brought it down fast. I think within 4 or 5 months it was in the 70’s. But it fluctuated a little. Most liver experts want it below 117? I think. All my drs have different normal ranges in their labs. My hematologist’s lab is 117 for high normal. My hepatologist wants it as far below 200 as possible and it has pretty well stayed around 120-130 for a while. Few months ago it shot up to 178 but dropped back to 140. That’s where it was a week ago.
