last year I suffered a bad case of glandular fever. After having a yellow tinge to my skin I went to a private liver specialist who found I have AMA and M2 antibodies. 1/40. Does anyone know what this result means?
I have been told I will have yearly blood tests and a ‘wait and see’ approach. I am only 28 and am pregnant so they are monitoring my liver. I have just come on here for advice to see how soon after did it start affecting your liver and if anyone else has had this while being pregnant?
Thanks

Congratulations on your pregnancy, it sounds like you have a good team of doctors who will be keeping a closer eye on your progress.
Some people have the antibodies but never progress to PBC hence the wait and see approach. PBC in general (but not in all cases) is not found until later in life.
Sorry for the very late reply. My son was just a couple of months old when my PBC was diagnosed. So I must have had it during pregnancy, apart from suspected pre-ecamplsia towards the end it was all very normal.
I have never had any symptoms and now I'm responding to Urso everything is fairly normal, and has been for most of the 20 years I've been diagnosed, so try not to worry too much.
