Itching is the only symptom I get from PBC and sometimes the itching is so intense. At the moment my legs are covered in bruises, some of which are quite sore. Does anyone else find that this happens to them? I finally have an appointment with the doctor, I haven’t been since since December 2019 and I called up to ask if I could at least get some blood tests done to know if I’m actually responding to the medication. I currently take urso daily and I’ve started taking the sachets more often as I was just told to take them as and when needed but this is almost every day at the moment. Does anyone else take different medication to help with the itching?
TIA

For me the itch became so bad the Questran sachets would not control it. After trial and error with different meds I have settled on a combination of Rifampicin and Sertraline just 25mg and because at the moment I am unable to get Cholestyramine or Colestagel I am taking Gabapentin. There is also Naltrexone in the specialist kit bag as well as a topical 2 per cent menthol derma cream, but this only gives temporary relief.
That is how I am, my legs look awful and with summer coming up I don’t want to have to keep covered. I will suggest rifampicin to the doctor
I had a call around July time and he asked how I was getting on, which I was fine at that point. But haven’t heard anything since and I had to phone and ask for an appointment and they sent me one through within days. It’s not until 4th May but at least I’ve got something. Thanks x
