Never had high cholesterol. Had PBC for at least 8 yrs. Now cholesterol high. What does everyone take? How did it effect you

Hi,

Look in to fenofibrates. I believe in the UK it's bezafibrates or visa/versa...I'm in the U.S. Some with PBC have had really good results with fibrates slowing down fibrosis from PBC as well as lowering cholesterol.

Stella thank you.yes in the states. They are sending results to gas Dr then they will call. Thank you. I don't like all the medicine.lol

Hi,

I don't either, but my hep says they are seeing promising results using fibrates in PBC patients. He won't put me on them however because he says I'm considered "a responder" to URSO. My fibrosis has gone up but he still hasn't put me on anything but URSO. Right now my only elevated issue is my Alk-phos. It has fluctuated between 150 and 192 for 10 years.

Have taken statins now for 6yrs without any problems..my cholesterol was very high 11.8 due to having PBC but now around 5.2 my GP says that's ok

Hi I’m in the UK and my consultant in consultation with another colleague decided to put me on Bezafibrate alongside URSO. It has certainly improved my LFT results and slightly lowered my cholesterol.
