Advice on vitamins please
Hi Iโm on Urso and also alendronic , does a... - PBC Foundation
Hi Iโm on Urso and also alendronic , does anyone know if taking vitamin D is ok with these ? Thank you ๐
I am on URSO and take vitamin D + K spray with the knowledge of the hepatologist. I do not know anything about alendronic but have taken the following from wikipedia
"Alendronic acid, sold under the brand name Fosamax among others, is a bisphosphonate medication used to treat osteoporosis and Paget's disease of bone. It is taken by mouth. Use is often recommended together with vitamin D, calcium supplementation, and lifestyle changes"
I am no doctor but from my point of view I can see no reason not to take vitamin D. If you can get it in a spray form (Bodykind.com or BetterYou.com in the UK) then you spray it under the tongue so it does not go through the gut. Also I space all my medication giving a couple of hours in between any medications, i.e. all my URSO with dinner later I take my simvastatin, etc.
best wishes
I'm on all three, as prescribed by my consultant. Urso, plus Alendronic acid and Vit D with calcium combined for borderline osteoporosis. Latter two are preventive because PBC means I'm vulnerable to osteoporosis and my test results were close but as yet I'm not diagnosed with osteoporosis so far.
Hi there, I was prescribed vit d with the alendronic acid so it ok to take but always check with your doctor.
I took biphosphonates, Vitamin D, and Urso with no problems
Like Swinstan I take all three, prescribed by my consultant.
My Gp prescribed vit D3 & take tablets...I have had PBC for 16yrs and no harm as come to me
My liver consultant advised taking calcium and vitamin d tablets alongside my urso. I just buy them from the supermarket as cheaper than prescription.
