Walmart changed my capsules from Watson to KVK-Tech. They are pink and white with K-237 on them. Is anyone else taking these? If so any problems ? I had been taking Watson brand for the last year and for the first time in the 3 years since diagnosis my Alkaline Phosphatase was finally in the normal range in June.

I have been taking the pink and white capsules for several years with no problems or side effects.

Thanks upinthe air. I’ve taken another pink and white capsule before but was not familiar with this particular one with the K-237 on it. When one kind has seemed to have been working I hate that it was changed.

I take pink and white by Lannett. Any other brands give me terrible stomach pain and diarrhea. Have your doctor specify on the RX the brand that you can use without stomach issues. My doc always does that for me.

Hi Texas Liz

I was taking Lannett for a while because I heard on here it was effective. Then my pharmacy changed to Watson. I asked my Mayo hep to specify Lannett but he said they were all the same and would not do it. I told him that PBC people on here said they are not the same but I wasn’t able to persuade him to write a new prescription. It took a while but I finally got into the normal range in June. Now they have changed it again. It is do frustrating.

I have never heard of this brand. I guess I will have to see if I start having adverse effects or if my ALP starts going up and try to pitch my case to the hep again to specify a manufacturer.

All Urso is the same drug. What your doc needs to learn is that all manufacturers use different fillers. Often the fillers cause stomach problems. I tried 6 brands until I found one that didn’t upset my stomach. Watson was the worst for me! My advice would be for you to start a new brand one daily. In a few days increase your dose until you get to your recommended dose. And always always take with food. I’m not in the medical field, but have some personal experience. Two years ago my insurance wanted me to try tablets. I had immediate cramps and diarrhea. So I’m sticking with capsules. Stay in touch!

Thanks for the information and suggestions Texasliz. Luckily I haven’t had any gastric problems taking the various generic versions but my LFTs did better on the Watson version and finally normalized after 3 years. I have done much better on the capsules. My hep didn’t want to switch me from the tablets but finally said he would but he didn’t want to be switching all the time. I am not sure how this one generic version that I have never heard of will be.

Sounds like you’re doing well. Happy for all of us who take one day at a time and are beating this stupid disease.
