My doctor prescribed me omeprazole 20mg twice a day for the feeling of a lump in the back of my throat. After a few days that sensation disappeared, but then I started to get acid reflux(which I’ve never had before), and severe anxiety so after 11 days I stopped taking the ppi. It’s been 7 days since taking them now and I’m still getting the same symptoms apart from that they are worse. The burning in my chest keeps me awake most nights also the bubbling in my stomach. It’s making me feel ill mostly all day too. Is this the sign of ppi rebound?, if so, how long do you think this will last? Thanks

This is strange, because omeprazole is for the acid reflux relief, yet, you get such a reaction. I was taking it for several years for GERD, but, then it stopped working. I've been taking Nexium for many years since then, 20 mg a day. Still working. Try it. Now it's not even a prescriptions drug anymore in the US. It's OTC. But, I would certainly consult with your doctor first. I also, take several times a week Pepcid AC (alternate days), to reduce the amount of Nexium, as old antacid drugs are considered safer (but, they are just not as effective). I take TUMS once a day for calcium and it helps on the days when I take Pepcid.
