Pbc and coronavirus
On the PBC Foundation's web site they have some guidance, not sure if it is in the members section, but if you are not already a member it is free to join.
So much depends on how well you are and if you have other contributing factors. For myself although I have more than one auto immune disease my PBC is well under control and I am no more at risk than the general population.
Fortunately I have not contracted the virus but I am able to self isolate and social distance when necessary.
hope you are able to stay safe, stay well
Why is it no one responds to this question other than to say to stay home? I will. The answer is no. And no one I know personally has it. I feel covid19 is a real disease but there’s a money-making conspiracy
I have not gotten it. I live in Canada. I do however know someone who got it around March 6th and she is still feeling the effects of it and is not 100%. She just started back to work (we are all working remotely) a few hours a day.
I know of another couple who got it while they were on an extended holiday in Britain in February-March. One survived - she just got to come back home. Her husband unfortunately died from it in Britain. He had no underlying conditions and was overall healthy. He was in his mid-60’s.
I do not believe this is a conspiracy and no matter what it is pandemic or natural disaster, whatever it may be - there are always bottom feeders trying to make money off of it.
Given the relatively low numbers we have in my province it’s hit pretty close. My sister is a pharmacist and she said it’s an uncommon virus in that it targets your heart, lungs and immune system - that’s what makes it so dangerous.
Stay safe everyone. I’m tired of hearing the conspiracy stories. If someone doesn’t believe that this is a real danger to people then go about your lives but please don’t infect the most vulnerable or the ones who are trying to protect their families. Our seniors are dying here - it’s so sad. We shouldn’t be “sacrificing” them because people believe this is some sort of hoax.
I have had it. I wrote a really long response to someone else on this site so you might want to look for it. I was in the hospital for 9 days and have been home recovering now for three weeks. I have a number of underlying health issues but I seem to have come out the other side. My brother-in-law was in excellent health as far as we all know. No one can even remember the last time he had a head cold. He went downhill so fast. Fever first. Then mental confusion. Took him to the hospital and within 24 hours he was on a ventilator and 3 days later his kidneys failed and he was on dialysis. One after another organ failed and he died after being on the ventilator for three weeks. No one can wrap their heads around it yet. It is a freaky disease. People have such different reactions, different symptoms that it's hard to believe it's all one virus causing this.
There is no money-making conspiracy. Anyone telling you that is full of B.S. Try talking to someone on the front lines. They're exhausted and frightened. I can't tell you how disconcerting it is to be in a hospital, gasping for breath and seeing the eyes of the people behind all the protective masks - that the people who are supposed to be helping you are afraid of you and your germs. And the answer to any question you ask is a SHRUG and the response "we don't know yet." It is terrifying.
If you don't have an outbreak in your area, be glad and do everything that is in your power to make sure you never do. I will never be the same person again.
