PBC and bloating: I have noticed that I have... - PBC Foundation
PBC and bloating
It can be. I have the liver pudge around my middle and throughout the day I will swell up. It does matter what I eat though, as some things do it much less than others.
You need to catalog exactly what you are eating. You may have a common thing that bothers you more. I have the swelling around the liver that causes pain if I eat too much, doesn't matter what, its the quantity. Its almost as if the liver doesn't have enough room.
I also have a lot of stomach bloating and in the last 2 months I am very constipated. No pain just don't feel right. I take Colace every night and feel great in the morning. I guess this just goes along with PBC.
I suffer a lot of bloating, after eating or drinking no pain as such just feel very uncomfortable not sure if particular foods cause it but I do know that milky coffee or cream seems to give me stomach pain. Consultant dx IBS in the absence of anything else , but I think it's related to the Pbc.
I have a lot of bloating and pain and have developed I.B.S since having P B C.
This year my consultant sent me to see a dietician which has helped I am wheat and gluten free. So try not to eat bread. Also surtain fruit and veg will have the same effect of bloating for you. Try keeping off broccoli cauliflower etc but I suggest you see your G.P and ask or next time you see you consultant ask him.
My pain has been cut down by this diet it is boring but rather that then the pain on a daily basis which was wearing me down.
I can only comment on my situation, but I advise to get it sorted.
But in the mean time keep smiling. Xx
I too sometimes bloat was bigger than my daughter who was 5 months pregnant having wear elastic waist trousers but I'm now trying stay away from bread cheese and other things but can't give up my morning coffee but don't have sugar
Then it not just me, lol. My Gastro doc dx with PBC, but yet has not attributed this bloating and pain with this condition. I've had colonoscopy, egd and today go for an abdominal ultrasound. Only thing found so far was a little erosion and inflammation in my colon. But states basically good condition. Anyway I think he's stumped, so I will ask today if that possibly could be my issue. To be continued.....
I found a probiotic drink/yoghurt a day really helped.
I have also found that these help with the bloating.
I thought I was bloated around the liver area, started panicking thinking the worse as I've got coeliacs too. Went to see the consultant (who is an incredible lady and tells it like it is)
She examined my abdomen and looked very concerned, I asked if it was my liver swelling? She said I'm sorry to tell you but......it's just fat! Phew, what a relief, I can handle that, so I've put on a few extra pounds during menopause, that's ok.
Seriously though, get checked out for coeliacs, eat little and often and cut down on fatty foods and sugars.
I know that since stopping gluten I have had fewer problems. Occasionally when I have problems and think about what I've eatten recently it has to do with possibly cross-contamination or an ingredient in a sauce. It really makes me stop to think about what I'm eatting.
I have just returned from the Doctor, went for swollen stomach, no appetite and slightly breathless. Was told my stomach was full of fluid and was given antibiotics to take. So maybe it might be worth a trip to your GP just to double check?? Xx
