Just read in the latest “Bear Facts” page 5 Gill Rich on Sicca Syndrome also made a point on different brands of URSO different fillers in different brands so pleased to read this, as I amongst others have made the same point my GP and Pharmacists argue the point that they are all the same drug which we know but fillers/ capsules can disagree with is. Good reading, back to reading the rest of the issue

Generic or not
This happened to me, however, the pharmacist did his best to source the Galen Urso that I had been on since I was diagnosed. He also asked me to try another brand, as he was told by his supplier that they wouldn’t get Galen Urso anymore because of the cost. Thankfully he fought my corner and he has been able to get it for me and, as I didn’t have a problem with the other one he asked me to try, we now at least have an alternative.
Good news at least you have an alternative. I get my Ursofalk from Boots as the pharmacist attached to my GP practice and a few nearby chemists won’t supply due to the cost and my GP only prescribes generics any way we have both solved the problem. Good to know I wasn’t just imagining a difference. Keep well
Good to know that I can get it at Boots if I need to 😊 Local pharmacist is really good. I will show him your post as it proves it’s not just me!!! x
I know I thought it was just me. So fed up with them telling me that they are all the same as if I was a 7 year old clearly we do know what we are talking about and know our bodies
A locum pharmacist gave me the ones that didn’t agree with me, she started to say it’s the same ingredients etc, etc
I just shut her down, the usual pharmacist absolutely did not doubt what I told him and had put a note on my file saying I shouldn’t be given them. It makes a huge difference when there’s someone willing to listen and believe what you tell them x
Hi Biddyb
Just read your post, & was surprised to learn that although Urso is generic the fillers can differ from brand to brand. For the first couple of years I was on the same brand which suited me fine, but now my prescription can differ each time, but never the original one (Ursofalk), and since the changes, I notice my hair loss has been significant, I’m wondering now if that maybe the cause. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this ?
I will try speaking to the chemist, but I’m not hopeful, as they’re not the most helpful!
If you are in the UK Boots will dispense Ursofalk even if the GP prescribed Ursodeoxocolic Acid. Interesting reading good luck
