Hello and Happy Sunday to all my friends near and far....Thought I'd share the latest in my epic saga. At last post, I was totally baffled with my thyroid issues. I was fine for years after my thyroidectomy until about 18 months ago when my TSH plummeted to a very low .006 and would move, regardless of medication dose changes. So, after a year of feeling terrible, hair loss, depression...well all the symptoms of hypothyroidism, the doctors decided that monitoring my TSH was not necessary anymore! I was sent for a pituitary gland MRI (NORMAL), then a sleep study as they suspected this to be hypothalamus related. Bingo! I have mild obstructive sleep apnea. I've been tired for years and just thought it was related to my PBC. So, the last 4 nights I go to bed wearing my mask, chin strap, plus ear plugs and mouth guard. Quite the fetching vision, right! Well, I'm waking up refreshed and haven't had the desire to nap mid day. So, I am now with the right dose of Nature -throid for me, and feeling so much better. Just thought it would be nice to share some happy news here. Life sure does get complicated. The most interesting part is the decrease in my body aches and pains since I started my APAP therapy...all within 4 nights. Be well

good to read, thanks for the share

Great post! Made me re-connect control-panel and raise bed-head by 6". Hey presto! Immediate positive effect = sleeping 2300-0700 no waking self with snoring. For months I'd been getting up 1 or 2 times in early hours but likely there was more sleep disturbance than I was aware and I hadn't thought that snoring was the indirect cause of needing the bathroom. I don't really like the slight up-hillness in bed but it's given quite a bit of energy to my days - thank you! This morning I was listening to music and felt like d-a-n-c-i-n-g to my great joy and surprise! :-) It is strange feeling recovered so well from something I never knew I had!

Wonderful news! I feel better sleeping with my CPAP than before. I would never have suspected I wasn't breathing unless I had the sleep study. I do not snore, but stop breathing in REM sleep. So glad you found relief and are feeling like dancing. Think about a sleep study at some time in the future if you can. Thanks for sharing this with me

I'll definitely do sleep study - this has proven my need for it and I don't really know if I snore, just that I do waken to a noise in my throat. It's very possible that I stop breathing and I have looked at apap's. Did the study reveal that cpap suits your need over apap? My pleasure to share.

For me, the doctors felt I need the APAP as I desaturate at times and stop breathing at other times. My apnea is mild. My range is 5 to 7, but I notice most nights I'm leveraging 6 3 or So. I have to tape my mouth because I mouth breathe. Chin strap jacked up my neck, so been experimenting with different medical tapes. Truly a journey. My biggest complaint is the headgear crushes my curls. Could be worse

I have Sjogren's, chronic sinus probs, mouth-breathing and a few other reasons y it didn't occur to me that occasional not-breathing was the problem. But I had begun to wake with occasional headache that went once I was up and about. I did wonder if lack of oxygen to brain had caused it: my sister had MND and waking headaches as a consequence. But I put it out of mind. There's times we can deal with stuff and times that we can't? I'm ready now and, thanks to you, with a clear line of enquiry, not just a few symptoms to tell the doctor.

It's a tough one for sure - keep breathing or perfect curls! Good call!

Just thought, was it ok, on International Women's Day, to talk about not being able to keep our mouths shut even when we are asleep? :-)

Oh no! the P.C. police might be listening! Yes... I did choose breathing over my locks, but it was a tough decision! Hope you get the answers you need. Be well
