I was diagnosed recently and awaiting My appointment with liver specialist. Two night ago I became really ill suddenly I felt really nauseous and shaking I couldn’t get warm and slept for nearly 20 hours off and on. I was shaking uncontrollably for hours. I have never experienced this. My temperature was normal in the morning when I took it. I was totally unable to function for nearly 24 hours. Today I still feel off and have a headache. I finally ate something. Would this possibly be related to the PBC or liver? Or am I experiencing something unrelated? Not sure whether to see my Regular doctor at this point or wait and mention it to my specialist in 3 weeks time. I am worried it might happen again.

I am sorry you are ill. I have Pbc/psc overlap so this may not apply to you but for me fever with shaking chills is ER stuff as it can mean a serious infection in the liver's bile ducts called cholangitis. Call your doctor.
Thank you for your answer. I will call my doctor and discuss. If it happens again, I will take your advice and head to the ER. It was quite scary. I’ve never felt that before.
I had two very similar instances. I went to the ER both times, because I felt awful all over, was extremely cold and couldn't stop shaking. Both times, my liver tests at the ER, actually came back better than usual. They gave me some "cocktail" to settle my stomach, to stop nausea. It's a mix of antacids with something else. Worked pretty well. It stopped my nausea. I stopped shaking and got warmer. They also set me up with the IV. The doctor said it had nothing to do with my liver, but, rather with my stomach. Feeling nauseous, cold and shacking, is a pretty terrible thing to endure. I hope it doesn't happen to you again. But, if it does, I strongly recommend, not to linger too long and go to the ER, so, they can check what's going on with you, as it happens.
This used to happen to me in the past but mine was violent shaking, very cold inside and my face was like ice, I didnt think of going to A&E as it happened quite often and assumed it was normal for PBC as at the time there was no one to ask, i used to lie on the floor with a hot water bottle in front of a fan heater, it hasnt happened for a few years now and i have no idea what it was and never asked, it will be interesting to know what it was though.
I was also wondering if it had to do with my gallstone. I have one according to the ultrasounds. I will definately see drs if it happens again as it was so sudden and scary. Thanks for your responses. It is good to know I’m not alone.
Similar has happened to me. Mine was a sudden allergic reaction to a medicine that I had been taking for almost 3 months. My jaws hurt from the chattering of my teeth. Shaking. I had a patchy rash on my body. My husband warmed a blanket in the dryer and piled it and others on me. I felt so clenched up from the cold. Lasted 8-10 hours. I did not go to emergency (I should have). I have a special needs daughter and middle of the night had no options for her care. Husband wanted to call ambulance but I thought it would go away soon. Sent photos of rash to my Hepatologist next day and was immediately taken off Imuran. Oh the muscle pain from being so tensed up from the chills! Hope it doesn’t happen again to you for whatever reason.
