I have PBC and take Ursofalk. I went to donate blood tonight but they said I was not suitable due to PBC. is this correct?
Blood Donaton: I have PBC and take Ursofalk... - PBC Foundation
Blood Donaton
Yes
Yes this also happened to me. Although not given an explanation I wrongly or rightly put it down to them not knowing if giving blood would be detrimental to our liver and bile ducts.
think that is right... you would be passing on the dodgy antibodies... a free gift i don't think anyone would want... ha ha!!!!
Hey! I was a blood donor for many years but PBC is an autoimmune disorder. We are no longer welcome to donate blood. I was diagnosed in 2016. I was thanked for all my previous donations but unfortunately and rightly so, PBC people can no longer donate blood.
Yes and makes me wonder why i got ill after having 4 pints given to me.
That’s how i learned i had PBC. i kept giving blood but was always told my blood was not acceptable because of the elevated liver enzymes. I can no longer donate blood.
Interesting....was just wondering the same thing. ThNks for saving me a trip to the blood bank.
Hi all! I don’t know if different states/regions etc have different guidelines but I was diagnosed with PBC in 2015 and I am still able to donate blood. The Red Cross was very knowledgeable about PBC.
yep I was told it was because of the autoimmune component
Correct. I was denied simply because if my elevated levels. Denied for life
