I have been having sweats off and on. I never had that problem before. Is that another side effect? Of ursodol or PBC?

Hi Teri, I live in Los Angeles and have been suffering from sweating/hot flushes for the last 5 years. None of my relatives or friends have the sweating and I always feel alone and wonder if it’s the PBC. Especially during summer times...

My hepatologist thinks it’s from Menopause but I’m not convinced.

All the best to you!

Me either I believe it’s part of the PBC because now my numbers are elevated now it’s getting worse can’t even be happy for one day. Pre menopause my butt later it will be said that’s another side effect to all the meds they put us on

I’m 44 I sweat all day and night since I’ve been on prednisone I told them I’m allergic to steroids but my rash from PBC makes me look like a drug addict and every one is quick to judge. The emergency room by my house puts me down every time I go there. I’ve been called a frequent flyer, homeless, drug addict and many many more things reported them to the drs board

Sorry to hear that medical professionals are being so very narrow minded. As if we aren't going through enough...I had it happen to me once when I was in excruciating pain..act as if I'm drug hunting. At least an angel doctor was there and helped me. Did an MRI and found my thyroid cancer....God works in mysterious ways. When I was your age, I had sweats 24/7 until. Early menopause. Used Chaste Tree Berry tintures. Really helped with sweats and irritability. Question...if you are allergic to steroids, why are you taking Prednisone?

I take prednisone to help with the rash just not to be judged I also take benedryl to stop Palmas from itching from prednisone I’d rather my sweats increase instead of being judged for the rashes I’m a picker so they turn to ugly scars

I hear you...I just had a trip to dermatology for a skin cancer. They sell a silicone based scar cream called Silagen. I went online and found a site...drlindirect. She is a dermatologist too. They had it 25% off, so I got it for $35 with free shipping. I'm looking forward to using it on my spots. This cream is professional grade and used for post op scars. As they told me...don't scratch, don't pick...use cold compresses or creams.

I also get nightsweats from hormonal imbalance (I had a hysterectomy at age 35, now 60 yrs old). I am on a very low dose estrogen patch that helps tremendously. It's an simple blood test to find out if your nightsweats may be hormone related.

I will ask my dr to do a hormone test thanks.

Hello everyone, I just saw this post and thought I would reply. Via my cirrhosis program I learned that cirrhosis causes three things to become uncontrolled within our bodies. First, glucose (sugar) can not be easily regulated especially if you are diabetic prior to a cirrhosis diagnosis. Second, your body can not regulate its temperature which may cause you to sweat when compensating for extreme heat/cold environments. Third, your body will not be able to clot its blood easily (scratching off a scab can cause blood to seep until pressure is applied for sometime).

Hopefully this helps answer a few questions.

I personally struggle with summer heat and use cool wash cloths on the back of my neck to cool me down. Winter mornings are a challenge which I prepare for by dressing in layers and waiting for the faucet water to warm up prior to washing my hands or showering.

Not what you're looking for?
