Can PBC patients donate their organs safely?

Hi,

We all hope if it is medically time for us to get a liver transplant that we are lucky enough to get one. Can we look at the flip side of that for a minute. If I am dying due to PBC liver failure - Can I safely donate my other organs, i.e. heart, eyes, skin etc (excluding liver and kidneys for obvious reasons) with out giving PBC to a recipient? Just wondering if things ever go south for me, if I could make something good come from it?

I think transplant donations may be debatable as the current belief held is that autoimmune diseases are genetically predisposed with possible medical/environmental triggers. I and my daughter (who also has several rare medical conditions) are going to donate our organs to medical research as a way to contribute.
