Hey all! I've been having more liver pain than normal with my PBC, mainly because I've been sick with sinusitis and fever and I've had to take more pain meds than normal. On top of that I've been worried about some medical tests coming up. Have you found that if you have acid reflux/GERD that it makes you liver hurt more? I'm having an endoscopic ultrasound on Friday to look at a esophageal lump that appears to be a polyp and I have worried the pain was from that. But now it seems to be the whole liver. I know upset causes my liver to be inflamed too, but man I just feel pretty awful overall. Any thoughts??

Reflux and upper right "liver" pain?
Hi NotorDJP,
So sorry to hear that you are going through this.
I don't have any experience myself, but I just wanted to write in support.
This is just a guess, but I would hazard that a lot of the pain is coming from the stress that you are under. Plus everything that is going on, may well be causing some inflammation - which is possibly the cause of the pain. On the positive side, you sound like you have a good medical team who are following up all issues, and hopefully you will soon have some answers. Also with all the acid reflux etc, you are probably straining all of your abdominal area, and you may just have muscle strain - that alone, plus tension/worry can cause a lot of pain.
I have not got any real answers, but I do know that stress and worry is the worst possible for all autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Why not try to relax as much as is humanly possible, before the medical tests. Do things you love, treat yourself, have fun - distract your mind as much as possible and spoil yourself in good ways.
Also, remember that a lot of people on here will be thinking of you and you always have a good community to talk to. I hope all goes well and you get some answers.
Take care,
Gritty
Agree with gritty that a lot of it is probably stress! I find that if i get dehydrated i feel pain in my liver. Try drinking a lot of water? I’m sorry and hope this helps.
Thanks guys. I have been very bad about getting my water in, so I will see if this helps. I have been highly stressed about some medical tests and hopefully after Friday I will have some answers. I always feel like I have something going on. I spoke to my gastro today and he said that my levels were ok for the most part and that I need to relax before my test. I plan to try to do relaxing things and keep as busy as I can in the next few days. I will let you know what happens Friday! My test is later in the day US EDT, so I won't have any news till later in the day.
