Has anyone had pro lens with their teeth? I have to have my last 2 molars on the top. 1 one each side, removed on the 8th and I'm waiting for the approval of 2 root canals on the bottom. They hurt lime hell.

I'm thinking that pro lens = problems?

I've just lost a piece from one of mine but they are trying to save it. Teeth problems can be an issue with PBC due to dry mouth syndrome. & There may well be a few on here suffering. I'm on a very high fluoride toothpaste & mouth wash now. Toothpaste is prescribed in conjunction with my Dr.

Y-now I have endless problems with my teeth. Have PBC and other Autoimmune diseases. Have no solution as dentist keep on fixing them and I no longer can afford my teeth, or body as I have to pay for everything out of my own pocket

I saw my consultant yesterday and she said it has nothing to do with PBC which I find strange as others have commented they have teeth problems. I have slack front teeth which move and cause pain. I have always looked after them because I am terrified of the dentist. After 17 years with PBC I thought it was that. Hmmmmx

I was advised by my Dr to tell the dentist I had PBC. The dentist was fully up with his knowledge of PBC. In fact it was good to talk to someone without having to explain everything. He's taken x rays. He's explained that he needs to check the bones that the roots go in to cause they can weaken with pbc. He is also communicating with my GP to have my toothpaste added to my prescription. I just thought the bone thing might relate to your issues. Xx

Thank you. That helps. I just wish the doctors/dentists by me knew, even a little bit, about PBC. I have to get a medical clearance for my upcoming dental work. Dentist wants to be safe than sorry...

The mouth wash I get is Colgate fluraguard. It's not cheap, but it's the only one with right amount of fluride in. I'm still waiting regards the toothpaste I only found out about it all this week I don't get that for another couple of weeks till they all communicate & I have my next appointment. I'll post when I find out. Xx

June9961 I agree with you. My dentist also just ignore the fact that I tell him all my teething problems lately are due do this PBC. Have never in my live had so much teething problems as the last few years, Have had this PBC , since diagnosed, 9years. Must say this PBC is a very costly disease and the Medical Aid in South Africa would not consider it as a Chronic Disease.

I have had years of problems with my teeth, many at Eastman dental hospital in London. Some couldn`t be saved and I have 2 implants and have had 2 rocking eye teeth for a few years!. I too have high fluoride toothpaste prescribed and biotene for sjogrens. I pay for a hygienist every few months and clean thoroughly myself. After a recent mouth scan I was told that the gums and bone are good and I have done well with my condition to have saved so many. I think this means my new dentist (we have moved house) thinks teeth problems are connected to PBC as did my last dentist.

I now have just a few teeth left and am saving up for dentures. My dentists (have had many) have all said it's nothing to do with PBC but I do have dry mouth. Found a spray which really helped but cannot get it on prescription because I am not dying!

Are you in the states?

My friend called this place "donated dental services" she waited a while, but then a dentist close by took her case, pro bono. He surgically removed all the teeth. Most of them were broken or decayed. And she got a full set of dentures. No out of pocket cost...

Mary 48 So grateful for this Group. I thought I was the only one with tooth problems as the Dentist is as so many doctors acquainted with this disease

I lost 5 teeth this year. 3 are being replaced with dental implants. I already have 3 implants from about 15 years ago. My tooth loss is mainly from infection around the bone. It doesn't seem to make any difference how clean I keep my teeth. Before my diagnosis 2 month ago the dentists were saying it was because I used to smoke. I quit 20 years ago. Now I wonder if it's because of the PBC. My missing teeth are all molars. I hope I don't lose any more.

Hi Pam

Sorry you lost so many in 1 year. Mine are all molars also. My last 2 on the top are coming out. I cannot afford implants, but my insurance will cover a partial plate. I Believe it is because of the disease. Since it effects bone.

Take care

Well, I wouldn't be able to afford the implants if I didn't have a husband. They are really expensive. My last 2 on top came out also! I always thought someday I'd get a facelift but no, ....I'm buying teeth. I cried after they pulled mine. Not because it hurt but because it's so hard seeing yourself go to crap like that. We are just not what we thought we were. I'm sorry about your tooth loss. All we can do is deal with it and keep moving on I guess. My heart goes out to you.

Best wishes,

Pam

4pjx It all sounds so familiar as I keep on reading here. I am really desperate with my teeth and the Dentist keep on fixing them. I am a regular visitor at his Dental Practice and he ignores me telling him it is due to PBC. Very frustrating to spend all your hard earned money on crowns etc and later on they have to be removed anyway

Me too. I've had crowns and root canals and surgeries to scrape the infection out all to hsve those same teeth go loose and have to be pulled. I wonder if people with transplants have improvement on their teeth?

Osteoporisis is a problem often found in pbc sufferers. This can also affect the teeth. Have you been tested?
