I have been on ursodiol for a little over 2 weeks and I'm suffering from constipation. Has anyone else had this? I'm wondering if it's the ursodiol or something else. I didn't notice it at first. It's only been the last few days.

Ursodiol and constipation
Hi Vera. Yes I had this a few weeks into taking urso. It passed after a few weeks (pardon the pun).
Me too and im on lizness. I havent had a bowel movement in days. I started to notice today when i felt a fever blister coming on and my lower back is starting to ache. I recently started the prevalite powder for the itch so I tought it was that. Ive got to get some relief. I feel worse if tjings arent moving as they should. Any suggestions?

cfsummerford72 Drink as much water as you humanly can, I am a bit of a constipation expert as I care for my Granny and her bowels took a bad turn due to a bout of diarrhea being treated and then got constipation from the meds and on top she stopped eating and drinking.
So for her tricky to get her to do the right things she has dementia, but for you this may help.
Bananas one a day if you can, they work well, kiwis a former elderly care nurse said the seeds have a laxative effect, not sure if true but the kiwi got my Granny back on track after bananas failed and they usually worked for her. Prunes the juice if you hate the fruit.
As much watery fruit as you like, fibre, wholemeal if you are not on a gluten free plan as some with PBC are.
5 a day crucial for bowels and I increased mine when mine played up.
I have been fine on Urso 9 weeks, 4 weeks in I was given Questran. It totally constipated me I have never had bowel probs that way before, I funnily have the Bristol Stool chart given to me as I care for my Granny, I had the (sorry if too much info or you are eating) rabbit droppings only coming after severe straining once every 2-3 days. The Itch is unbearable but bleeding from my back end and not going was worse and itching did not subside I also had nausea and vomiting just after taking my sachets, nausea lasting for hours. I have lost so much weight, the hepatologist said leave the Questran out at present I need to keep my food in situ hehe. I am off it and just on Urso and back to being regular.
I believe the Questran side effects may subside also. I was on the Lite version.
Me too gotta figure which one is causing this
Yes it gives me that - I find it's better if I split the dose between morning and evening. And as others have said lots of water, fruit and veg. If it's bad my dr said to use Movicol for a couple of days. You can by it over the counter and it's gentle and effective.
I was informed that Russo takes up to 12 weeks to get into your system and start working as it should. Ask at the foundation.
