I've found I'm having trouble with my vision in the last week or so. Everything is a bit blurry and one eye seems to be affected more than the other. I have only been on urso for 3 or 4 weeks so I wondered if it was a side effect. Has anyone else had trouble after starting to take it? I do need new glasses anyway but its quite a difference in a short time.

Doubt the urso but keep reading on this site after someone starts it that they are having issues. I started taking urso December 2010 and apart from a few of the initial side-effects (heartburn, bit of tummy bloating and I thought the itching that originally took me on the path to this Pretty Bloody Crap thing) it all vanished within a few months.
Personally I'd see an optician to have your eyes checked or meanwhile speak to your doctor.
I'm going to opticians next week so will see what they say. Its very strange...a bit like when you wake up and have to rub yours eyes to focus. But it doesn't clear. The itch did get quite extreme in the first week of taking urso but its calmed down to a manageable level now so maybe starting to adjust.
Good to read that you think your itch seems to have calmed down a bit. Awful thing to have this itch. I know all throughout 2010 I itched almost 24hrs a day. Urso isnt said to eradicate the itch though for a rare few it seems it can resolve. For me it has changed the itching over time but it did take time. I'd say it was about 18mths before I really felt the difference and I have since itched late at night (around 11p.m) and it lasts until around 6a.m.
I do get prickly during the day at times if I bend at the knees for eg or the elbow, but nothing like it was in 2010.
I was sent to the eye hospital by my optician because I started having blurry vision. I was told that because PBC causes dry eyes that I had inflammation of the eyelids. Now use eye drops and wipes daily which keeps it somewhat under control but it still flares up now and again.
Hi Angel_b. After a lot of trial and error I started using lumecare eye drops and wipes. I have found that they are best for me. I hope you find some relief.
I've had blurred vision for quite awhile, I've had my eyes tested, and nothing found. I've put it down to my fibromyalgia . But would advise you to get an eye test done. I also got driving glasses which helps whist driving.
Hi I quite often have blurred vision usually in the morning, I can see fine normally but I can't focus if trying to read on my phone, it doesn't last too long and it's not all the time it only started in the last few months but I have my eyes checked every 3 years as I have glasses for driving .
I've been pbc diagnosed nearly 6 months and take urso . You should get your eyes checked if you have worries .
I have blurry vision from dry eyes I use eye lubricant drops I have Sjogrens which is common in PBC. I read that PBC can cause dry eyes also I would get your eyes checked.
thanks. I've had the dry mouth for about 6 months. I cant go anywhere without a flask of water/juice. But only just started with eyes. How do they test for sjogrens?
They checked labs ANA and checked moisture in eyes with a test and lip biopsy from a salivary gland all of these were positive in my tests. I was told PBC can be common in Sjogrens and both are autoimmune diseases and both cause dry eyes and mouth which I have.
Hi there I am in the U.K. I am pretty sure I have Sjogrens. I asked my Doctor about a test to confirm it. She said there was no point as I have PBC I will get a positive result for an autoimmune problem, that might or might not be Sjorgrens. I assumed there wasn't a specific test for it. I will nomention it to my consultant as I get blurry vision, dry eyes etc etc
The lip salivary gland biopsy diagnoses most people if they have other positive results, the reason for a diagnoses is it can flare and make you very ill, and to keep it in check like PBC , there is a medication to help with flares called Plaquenil so it's best to follow up with this disease and treatment also, why be sick if there is a good treatment? I have no side effects from the Plaquenil and feel better since starting it, good luck let me know what they say.
I've had that as well, but have been on Urso for quite awhile. Going to get it checked when I get back from overseas in a month. Maybe just another joy of old age.
Sounds like its defo worth checking out. Think I will see what opticians say and then speak to doc. Thanks. Would be interesting to see if everyone gets the same response.
