How to get access to new medication...?

I've got PBC for several years now, first with good results on urso. In the last three year my liverfunction tests got worse and worse. So, I'm one of the non responders on urso. In the US obeticolic acid has gone through an accelerated procedure of FDA approval and is now available for patients. Not so in the Netherlands where I live. I'ts frustrating to know that new medication is available but not accesseble to me. My gastroenterologist is trying to get it for me but untill now hasn't ben succesfull.

Does anyone have an idea how to get access in Europe to obeticolic acid?

I would be wary of anything that went through an accelerated procedure to get FDA approval. But having said that, if you're not responding to URSO than of course you want access to it :)

I've never heard of that one before - but I hope your dr can help you access it and I hope it's one you respond to.

Rebecca :)
