Hi spoul, I would think they will remove the gallstones, probably using keyhole surgery. When mine were found the specialist said they need to be removed as they might move and block bile ducts. By the time I had surgery 1 of mine had moved into a bile duct. Not sure if it depends on the size, mine were quite big, 1.5 cm and 1.2 cm. Urso can be used to reduce smaller stones but I believe it takes a long time. Also it seems likely that anything that might compromise your liver would be treated where possible when you already have pbc. I would have thought you could see your consultant earlier now you have found out about the gallstones. Was August your appointment for pbc before your ultrasound?

I was diagnosed in May but they held off the op until after a holiday I had already booked in December that year. He did say if I started looking yellow to go to A&E. If you don't hear from your gp or specialist in a week or so I would phone to enquire. Although our gp is generally very good several times theres been a problem with different departments and hospitals communicating with each other. Good luck.x
