COVID and PBC

I've had covid and it should be behind me I'm now at day 12 since testing positive. I'm feeling very tired and wondering if anyone else has experience of lingering tiredness from COVID. Whereas before I had the tiredness from PBC relatively under control - I was able to function fairly normally. I'm wondering if I should get new blood tests, though I know results aren't necessarily linked to fatigue.

I’m sorry to hear you had covid and are still feeling poorly.

I had covid the end of July or first part of August. I am triple vaxxed, so I’m grateful for that as my symptoms were relatively mild. I was sick, but not hospitalized or anything like that.

My entire house had it and everyone else bounced back more quickly than I did. I took me a couple weeks after everyone else did too get my energy back. But today, 5ish weeks after having it, I’m back to my normal. It’s currently 7:24am and I’m up, on my exercise bike looking at my phone. A couple weeks ago I wasn’t that perky.

It always takes me longer to recover from any illness than my family as my body is always fighting itself. I imagine you will be the same way, still recovering just slower than some.

If it makes you feel more comfortable, ask to get your blood work done. I think the more proactive you can be in your health, the better. I do hope you are feeling 100% better soon! ❤️

Thank you for your kind reply. It is good to know you are back to 'normal' after 5 weeks. If it takes that long I guess I'll just have to pace myself until then. If I'm not better at the end of this week I will see my doctor about tests.

I had covid August 2021 and my doctor put me on a zpak and i did fine. I was very tired and my husband who gave to me and had vaccine was much sicker than I. We recovered after two weeks and he was still weak not able to lift a pen to write his at my drs office. We had what is called "Myers cocktail" an IV of B12, vitamin C and magnesium. It was not covered by my insurance go figure but wwll worth the $100 each we paid. My husband left there refreshed and able to pump gas. I thank God for healing us and i work for Healthcare non patient contact but they're requiring vaccination again. I think with all my allergies and terrible psoriasis itching ALL the time and no luck with EVERYTHING they've tried. I am underder University of MI where doctors recommend liver transplant.

Good luck! LIVE..LOVE...LAUGH🙂

Thank you very much. I might look into a 'cocktail' or similar as I feel that I would like to have more energy than I currently do.

I felt fatigued for a couple of weeks after the virus, I also had the loss of smell for about the same time. As you start to recover properly I hope you are able to return to feeling more your normal self. best wishes

I am at day 15 of having COVID. Proved negative at the weekend but still have all the symptons, especially the cough! I contracted a serious bout of flu 25 years ago which left me with ME which, after several years, I was able to manage. Now PBC has given me similar symptoms that I'm having to manage all over again! Cest la vie!

I'm not quite at day 15 fortunately the cough has reduced, it's mainly extreme tiredness that I'm dealing with. I hope you feel better soon too.

Hi Ofieweb- I’m so sorry you got blasted with COVID. I, too, just had COVID, first time, about a month ago. Horrible! Fevers, fatigue, aches, pains, etc. After the initial 4 days of sickness, I had lower oxygen levels - so I had to recover from that as well. It may take you longer to recover - it’s all part of a compromised immune system. Definitely contact your doctor if you are concerned.

It took me over 3 weeks to feel better.

Good luck!!

I had Covid early June and it was about 4 weeks before I stopped feeling exhausted. I treated it like the fatigue I get from time to time with PBC and allowed myself time to rest and paced myself.

I had covid (think it was omnicron) in Jan and I was exhausted and tired for 2 weeks where I literally was just sleeping all the time. So I just didn't work and let myself rest. But that cough last until end of April even with doctor prescribed meds. You'll get back on track; might take some time.

thank you. I had wondered if I could have had antivirals but medical people didn’t think I was at risk with PBC anyway I’m slowly getting better got some naturopath supplements to help me a long and being extra diligent with rest and food
