Hello sap7649.
I have read previously on this site some have PBC/AIH so you aren't alone. I just have PBC.
I am sure there will be some on here reading and can fill you in with AIH.
Hello Sap,
Ihave both AIH and PBC and am taking URSO(1000mg) plus Prednisolone(5mg) per day. Personally I am relatively well although I do have cirrhosis which I had pre diagnosis. There is a very supportive site called "Autoimmune Hepatitis Support Group which you might find very helpful. It has a section for "overlap"questions and support.
Try not to worry about the "Overlap" as it is sometimes called. Look afer yourself-----eat low fat foods when possible ,with other healthy foods---you may be sent to a Dietitian but if not ask at your GP's for advice.
I'm sure you will be well cared for.
Hi I was diagnosed in 2012 with AIH/PBC overlap and to this day I do not know why or how this happened it just did. I was diagnosed for both at the same time and I must admit, I was devastated in the beginning. I am on medication and it seems to be working. I take prednisolone, 6 mercaptopurone (usual immuno supressant is Azathioprine but Im allergic) and I also take urso. I said the medication is working but we are currently trying to wean me off the pred and last time we tried I had a huge flare up and was put back on high dose steroids.
It is a shock but it is manageable. I have good days and bad, but fatigue is a huge problem to me along with weakness. I have found that its best to listen to my body and if my body says sleep then thats exactly what I do, and often it's the only way to deal with a bad day.
I am alive and living life as well as I can, I even took on a volunteer job two weeks ago, and stay positive, even in the bad times.
I promise you as you get used to how it affects you, you will soon be able to find your own way of coping...it's not easy at first but you will get there xx
