Bile taste
Hello fudge13.
I never used to do but noticed after awhile of taking urso (started taking it December 2010 at diagnosis) I find this every morning on waking.
Given my bloods are not bad for one with PBC currently and I only have the sympton of itching (night) and the urso has not caused me any problems I just don't think about anything else.
Fudge,
With so little information, it's difficult to post a reply that is of any help.
Maybe give Collette a ring at the office as I am sure she could help you.
Yours,
Robert.
Not sure how bile would taste, so this may be totally different but I do have a constant taste on my tongue its between lemon and salty. But I have secondry sjogrens and that's thought to be that cause due to a very dry mouth. Thankfully it does not alter the taste of food.
Thanks for your reply x
Could you have acid reflux or GERD? There are so-called silent forms where the common symptom of heartburn is absent, but reflux occurs during sleep. If you think that's a possibility, try elevating the head of your bed, smaller more frequent meals, and nothing within a few hours of bedtime. If those easy things to try on your own help, then that's a diagnostic clue. GERD can damage both the teeth and the esophagus over time, so if it seems like a possibility, be sure to follow up with your physician.
Hello again fudge13.
I was looking for something not related to your topic of a 'horrible taste' and came across this bit that is on the British Liver Trust website under the PBC section. This could be what you are experiencing due to having PBC:-
"PBC may cause some people to experience an unpleasant taste in their mouth, or heartburn – a severe pain in the chest that can be mistaken for heart problems. Stomach acids escaping into your food pipe (oesophagus) are the usual cause of this sensation.
'If you get heartburn you may find that eating small amounts often helps. Avoid big meals and spicy food. It is a good idea to always carry something to eat, preferably food high in carbohydrate such as a barley sugar or boiled sweet."
Thankyou , for that.I do try to eat little and often rather than large meals.I will mention it to my liver specialist when I see him at my next appointment xx
