I have been very lucky & not suffered with fatigue, however, these past few weeks I have found my energy levels low & needing to have a nap during the day. Not sure if this is down to my age (61) or PBC, just wondered if anyone has intermittent periods when they feel like this ?

Weary !
I am 64 this year occasionally when the brick wall of fatigue hits I sleep, it feels different from the dozing off after lunch feeling when there is nothing better to do. However I have always been able to have a sleep in the afternoon for instance if I was going to a party and would know I would be late in, mind that was quite a few years ago. I also think there is a time when life changes make us tired so depending on what is happening in your life apart from age will impact on the need for an afternoon top up. For instance when I have had the grandchildren for an overnight stay and then get up early with them I certainly need a sleep and if I were working I do not know how I would cope.
best wishes
Thanks butterflyEi, I have never been of those who dozed off during the day (unlike my husband) which is why I wondered if this was down to the PBC.
It does feel like you say, hitting a brick wall !!
Thanks again.
Hi there, it does sound like fatigue caused by bbc, I get it intermittently and have found the supplement co-Enzyme q10 works for me, if you read my earlier posts I explain how I found this out. I hope you find this helpful.
Take care and don't feel guilty if you need to rest more, it's just another of the curses of this horrible condition.

Hi, I'm 62 and diagnosed last year. I sometimes fight the fatigue as much as I can but some days I have to give in and sleep. While I'm off work sick I can do this but dreading when I have to go back, don't think they will appreciate me sleeping at my desk! I seem to have two or three days in a row when the fatigue is at its worse and plan on pacing myself more which should help. Maybe you're over doing things on the days you feel that energy levels are high. Take it easy but we also need to keep up the exercise.
I have to have a nap most days but I do work till midnight & 2/3 am at weekends I just wouldn't be able to survive without.
Hi teddybear7
You have earned the right to a nap, I retired last December!
Thanks Debbie & CathieG for your comments. Appreciated. X
