I was diagnosed on stage 2 as well and also told I had it for a while. That was 4 years ago and still at same stage. Probably thanks to taking URSO. Find that being on the meds helps a lot. Although worrying when first diagnosed it does become less so as time progresses. Nowadays it seems that you are more likely to die with PBC than from it. So get on the URSO and good luck.
I've not had a biopsy due to having itching and fatigue in 2010 along with elevating LFTs and a high titre of the AMAs. The hepatologist that I saw at the hospital over 3 visits did say after diagnosis that I had more than likely started with PBC 'a few years prior'.
I'm not interested in knowing of what stage I may be at. I'll just crack on with it and hit things head on as they may appear.
That's the thing about this disease. No symptoms. So you don't know you have it. I found out only because I had blood work done for life insurance. That was 2yrs ago. Who knows how long I've had it?? Still waiting for the visit to the specialist. Well, now you know you have stage 2. Sounds like URSO is going to help us out a lot. Good luck NotorDJP.
Do we really need to have a biopsy. I really don't see the need for . Mine. I have Ama present and ana. I have plenty of . Other symptoms. Itching lethargy (awful lethargy) plus few more . Off the lists. I'm managing stuff ok on urso losing weight (controlled) I'm not jaundiced and don't really feel a need for staging. But they are still insisting on this biopsy to confirm. Feel like im fighting a losing battle. It's not going to change anything and apparently horrible to go through. Fed up.
Im in the us and they pretty much require it to give meds but you can always refuse. I for one wanted my stage but its not for everyone. Are they threatening to cut out your meds if you dont have one?
