I have been told that my intrinsic factor doesn't work and that's why I have pernicious anemia I know that the IF absorbs B12 but does it do anything else in your body, I really don't know much about any of this can anyone help?

Intrinsic factor
Hi,
IF does not do anything ells in your body but bind to B12.Pernicious anaemia
Normally, when you eat foods with vitamin B12, the vitamin combines with a protein called intrinsic factor in the stomach. The combined vitamin B12/intrinsic factor is then absorbed into the body further down the gut at the end of the small intestine. So called R binders are produced in that part of the gut and the R binders connect to IF bound B12. So if you have no IF bound B12 in the gut B12 will not be taken up . ( IF = Intrinsic factor, it is made by cells in the lining of the stomach and is needed for vitamin B12 to be absorbed, its not used for anything ells in the body.)
Perhaps read up a bit, I found it helps a lot if you understand what it means to have PA; see:

I hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Marre.
Have you tried intermittent fasting this helps to get your intrinsic factor up and running so i am led to believe i eat from 11am -6pm every day and only have water the rest of the time . also b12 1,000ug one a day helps ,you also could get your vitamin d checked . what is your b12 level now ?
What does the vit D have to do with B12?
