Probably a Dumb Question

I recently read that individuals who have type A blood appear to have a worse reaction to Covid 19 infections. So, because I have type A blood, I started researching blood types and found an article that showed certain blood types are predisposed to different types of physical problems. According to the article individuals with Type A blood are more likely to have stomach cancer and h pylori infections. So, I am wondering if people with Type A blood are more likely to have B12 deficiencies. Has anyone every read any research about this?

As I also have blood group A I decided to google ‘pernicious anaemia blood group A’. That led me to a couple of studies from the 1950s suggesting that PA is more common in those with A blood group.

I couldn’t see anything more recent but then again it wouldn’t surprise me if PA hasn’t been the subject of many studies since!

I only know my blood type because I am Blood Type A with negative RH. When I decided to have children, my OBGYN told me that because my husband had RH positive blood I would need to get some kinds of shot because my body would try to kill any RH positive embryos in my uterus thinking they were foreign invaders.

Okay.

But your blood group is always taken to find out theses things. Rhesus neg. Ect. so I assumed would be recorded on my notes.

Very odd actually not there.

That's true. You would think they would've tested your blood at some point in your life and it would be in your records.

Crazy as it seems they Don’t list Blood 🩸 Types in our Medical 🏥 Charts Either 🤬I have Always wondered what My Blood 🩸 Type was Years ago?? Dr.’s Never get this kind of Lab 🔬 Blood 🩸 test 🧪 done because the Insurance Won’t Pay for it an $200 is Quite Expensive to just find out! So I tried to Donate Blood 🩸 back @ 2012 when My Husband was Hospitalized having Necrotizing Fasciitis but I had Low Iron so I couldn’t find out! Its Interesting how they have Different Diets According to Blood 🩸 Types 😲 I knew My Dad was A+ & My Mom was B- most likely I know she was a B! So last week @ the mall they had a Blood 🩸 Drive so I tried AGAIN!! Since they are Extremely Low on Blood 🩸 @ the Blood Banks! Luckily My Iron was Good Enough to Donate & now I still haven’t received My Donor Card info in the Mail yet, but I got an Email to set up My Account & used the Barcode they Created for ME the Day I Donated Blood 🩸 then about 2 Days Later My Blood 🩸 Type showed up in My Account so I’m A- so I’m guessing My Mom was B-?? So I get the - from her & A from My Dad! I also found out they have Gifts 🎁 you can Save Points towards like Gift Cards 💳 for Donating Blood 🩸 which I Never knew before & also Merchandise like T-Shirts 👚 I Can’t Donate more whole Blood 🩸 until July 27th but I can Donate Platelets or Plasma which would also be a 1st for ME too!

I'm blood group O and I was diagnosed in 1977. I was told that I was at slightly greater risk of stomach cancer. Last year I spent a day at the local cancer centre because the uptake of regular cancer checks in my area is apparently low compared to other areas so some of us volunteered to do a bit of training and then visit local groups to try and increase the uptake. While we were at the centre I asked the consultant who was running the training session about the link between stomach cancer and PA and he said that the regular B12 injections make us no more likely to have cancer than the rest of the population. My maternal grandfather died in 1939 from stomach cancer but that was in the days before the link with B12 was known so I often wonder if he had PA.

Don't panic! I'm type A+. I had covid about 6 weeks but not terribly. I only got slight breathlessness, just endless cough and dizziness and flu like symptoms. I read the study when I was ill and it didn't help the anxiety. But all is well.

As if we don't have enough to worry about!

Interesting about link to PA.

My type O sisters don't have it.

Hopefully they have discovered some hidden

benefits for type A's!

Post them here anyone who knows! Cheer us up!

Best wishes.
