I just wanted to update you on my previous post. All blood tests came back normal apart from very high B12 and Folate and a note under differential white blood count saying "RBC show mildly macrocytic picture" MCV & MCH were still abnormal but lower than a couple of weeks previously and I wonder if that is because I had SI two days before the blood test.
I am intending on having an active B12 test done privately and if that is low, will SI twice weekly instead of once.
Thank you all for your support, it really did help.

If your MCV and MCH are falling on treatment, then I would question the need for an 'Active B12', as the treatment is clearly working. If you weren't anaemic at the start, then the best you could hope for is around 1% of your red cells being replaced per day, and the new ones would be 'normal MCV' to displace the macrocytes. If you're desperate to spend the money, then I find that decent biscuits and tea bags are welcomed by the hospital staff! Jaffa Cakes went down well, although I realise they're not biscuits after all. The price of a private 'Active B12' would allow you to spoil the staff who normally do your bloods in a big way. If Keir Starmer can accept £££thousands in gifts, then I'm sure your regular hospital staff would be OK with Some Yorkshire Tea Bags and a few packs for Jaffa Cakes. Just saying.
