Hi, Can anyone advise what needle I need for these ampoules, my current syringe is too small to draw up all the liquid in the ampoule & therefore I am currently wasting a lot!!
I’m in the U.K. - if anyone would be kind enough to share a link of what and where to buy I’d very much appreciate 🙏
Sorry, forgot to mention, I inject into my thigh.

Hi, I use these….. you need a syringe that is at least 2.5ml since the ampoules have 2ml of liquid in them, any syringe between 2.5ml to 5ml will do the job, you need red blunt needles to draw up with, blue needles to inject, alcohol wipes to clean and spot plasters to seal….
Sorry to be a bit thick.. but the needle I use at the moment, I draw the B12 and inject it straight into my leg…. so do I just need the blue or with these do I need red and blue 🤔
It’s completely up to you, but when you draw up with the same needle that you inject with, the needle will become blunt and scratched by the glass ampoule, which will make it more painful to inject, that’s why it’s good practice to use red blunt drawing up needles, they’re only cheap but that’s completely your choice…..
Have you managed to raise your ferritin yet?? All the symptoms you have mentioned in your bio link directly to low iron, if you want to reverse the symptoms you need to get your ferritin above 100ug and keep it there for 6 - 12 month whilst your body recovers
Hi, I’m currently working on my iron again as I was thinking the same, a neurologist told a customer of mine who is anaemic to take beef liver capsules and she’s amazed as for the first time she’s no longer anaemic, so I’m now taking what she’s taking.!
Thank you, I’ve ordered my needles and so the battle continues 🤗
That’s great to hear, and yes I completely agree it’s very difficult to treat an iron deficiency with non-heme iron, how beef liver capsules are heme iron , the body absorbs it much better, you’ll start to feel much better on that…. Make sure your doing iron panel test at least every 3 months, just to make sure your not developing iron overload and your still within a safe zone
I use the same needle to draw as inject - always have done.
MarvelDC is correct that the needle can be blunted if it comes into contact with the glass. I am careful to ensure the needle is always in the liquid and rest the collar of the needle on the edge of the glass vial.
I use a 30g half inch syringe and I inject sub cut into my tum and side of the waist. I also inject B6 which is in a 2ml vial and I use a 2ml syringe. It is slightly more tricky to fill but if you keep expelling air it’s doable.
Perhaps fill an empty vial with coloured water and practice. I must have done this over a hundred times at least so well practised now!
The alternative is to draw up half the liquid into two syringes and inject twice immediately - a syringe and needle pennies compared to the cost of B12.
