A phone call yesterday from a consultant Gastroenterologist was very unsuccessful! It lasted less than 5 mins! I explained my symptoms and what my last blood tests results were and I am indeterminate B12 deficient (as per March 24 N.I.C.E guidlines); I also explained it may be my gastric band that’s stopping my absorption of B12 and Folate! I’m also a vegetarian but have been taking B complex for more than a year but it’s still not absorbing.
He said we don’t deal with bands ( fine) but I will send you for a endoscopy.
On the Mycare app he had written a letter to my Gp stating not to give B12 injections she’s just low! She’s obese! But will give me a endoscopy and take some biopsies!

But a gastroenterologist should have been capable of answering your question about if a gastric band would affect your absorbtion of vitamin B12 . He doesn’t need to “deal” with gastric bands to know that . But the endoscopy will be very useful .. Best wishes .
Dont be too despondent a endoscopy might show something up. 🤞
I had both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy albeit I have had lenthy waits for the proceedures it was beneficial. I had to travel a long way to attended my appointment and was only with the consultant five minutes or so.
