folate dropping

I have been injecting since July 2023, thanks to you all, I knew to check my ferritin when I felt something else was off…since no doctor thought it necessary. It was 14. Now I am on iron supplements. My folate has always been >24. However, since starting the iron, my folate has dropped to 15 (still normal…but a drop). I have folate in my multivitamin, but just started adding extra.

Has anyone else ever had this experience??

Just background, I have B12D, but no PA and no stomach conditions (I have had every blood test and full scope with all good biopsies. Also no thyroid issues.

I think if a high dose of one thing needed I.e B12 other vitamins and minerals are knocked out of balance.

Also if an absorbtion problem other things are lowered .

Also when well ,we don't have bloods done to show all the changes in levels so never know what they woukd do.

We all scrutinise for clues to better health.

Testing and getting a 'means ' testt ovef 6 months not possible to see what level maintained with the peaks and troughs .

Like they do with blood sugars woukd be useful !

Do be careful with iron supplements.

Low dose I'm told by G.p fine.

5- 20mg daily.

Any more do monitor and discuss .

Minefield .

As too much can give more problems.

Vitamin C helps absorb more from food .

Little and often .

"Erythropoiesis slows in the deficiency of any of the critical factors that promote erythropoiesis, serum vitamin B12, folate, and iron. We can say that the serum levels of these vitamins decrease with the use of vitamin B12 and folate after increased erythropoiesis with iron treatment."

from: dergipark.org.tr/tr/downloa...

Erythropoiesis is the production of red blood cells.

Your folate seems to be in a good spot so I wouldn't be in the least concerned, if anything this is a good sign as it likely indicates red blood cell production is returning to normal.
