Error in Design

I experienced successful results of a 12 day trial of 1.5 mg of adenosylcobalamin and 1.5 mg of methylcobalamin 5 times a day including setting an alarm and injecting at night. 50 mg of P-5-P B6 twice a day to treat B6 deficiency.

So I designed a trail to explore the results of injecting three forms by adding hydroxocobalamin.

I kept the amount of B12 the same and adjusted the ratio to do so. This was not a rational choice as I will now get results of reducing the amount of two forms and adding another. It would have been rational to either add some amount of hydroxocobalamin and determine what the effect was or reduce the other two forms first and establish a baseline with another trial then do a trial of adding the hydroxocobalamin.

I made the error as my trail satisfied my desire for symmetry rather than a rational choice.

So I am less than 48 hours into my flawed design and the results were profound in the first 24 hours. That is not real helpful other than to know the change is having an effect. I will monitor the effects over time. No way I can determine what causes the effect due to my error.

Right now I have to process that I made the error before I decide what to do next. Oh Bother.

I am exploring seeing my cotton head and body temperature issues as not a symptom of having been B12 deficient rather my body doing what it needs to do to fight what it sees as infection. If I decide to go forward with that principle then it might be helpful in guessing what activities and or level of activities are healing. The intensity of the cotton head and temperature regulation issues an indication what intensity of healing is occurring and or that I am pushing too much for now.

I do now have times where I feel fine, not situational. Usually about 4 hours up to 7. I am using that as my measure of success and attribute it to a period of being in balance which is not a goal rather the preferred result of my work.

Pretty much practice does not make perfect. Well reasoned practice executed well yields more desirable results.

It is a weird dynamic if I felt as well 6 months ago as I have felt at all times in the last 16 weeks I would have been ecstatic. One year ago my worse day now is better than my best day then.

On the plus side I have determined that the methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin combination of two forms is the most effective and more effective than any single form. Of course as my body changes that may change. Nothing for it.

I did this with comparative analysis and not find what works. I do not contend that my way is ‘better’ that is not knowable. It is not all I can do.

A factor in making the error was the result of being close to having rational information about the different forms and combinations of B12 from my work and I rushed trying to get to the end.

Not to worry I will not be too hard on myself. Reality is often uncomfortable it is never negative.

That sounds like very good news and progress :) I am in awful trouble :( as I do better on methylcobalamin self injecting. For a week I have been injecting hydroxocobalamin morning and methylcobalamin about an hour before bed. I have felt so much better. I have one of those weird genes so can only take folate not folic acid. I have been searching and searching and cannot find anywhere to buy methylcobalamin ampoules, do you have any idea's or suggestions for suppliers Wizard?

Oxford Bioscience. It is not an ampule it is a multi use vial that you draw up through an open top and not through a multi use vial with a rubber top which you pierce. Others report if you ask they will send you the saline solution to mix with.

They sell two concentrations so you want to be aware of that if you decide to purchase.

I found methyl to be the most effective of the forms available. I did trials so I could compare as I could find no information I found reliable and those on the forum as far as I know do not do trials keeping the injection frequency and amount consistent.

Not advice as I do not instruct. Consider trying a trial of the same amount B12 in the form of methyl and compare it to hydroxo in the morning and methyl at night. Once you can procure methyl for injection.

I have found the same amount per day spaced in more injections to be more effective than once a day.

Good work on feeling better.

Wizard, methylcobalamin helps my fatigue a lot and my numb feet and hands, also my brain feels more energised, if that is a thing.

I am still not clear on the powered methylcobalamin do you mix the whole of the powder with saline from the little bottle and then keep in fridge. What do we store it in?

>>Wizard, methylcobalamin helps my fatigue a lot and my numb feet and hands, also my brain feels more energised, if that is a thing.

It certainly is for me!! That is why I use it. Kinda the point of self treating is it not?

I cover it in tin foil. I do not store it in the refrigerator due to bacteria. The powder form is very stable and as I am mixing it, which causes it to be less stable and then using it, I am not concerned with it becoming unstable.

I use the CDC's recommendation of using a multi use vial within 28 days. This recommendation is for use in a clinical setting.

The multi use vials which I use have the advantage of I can inject different amounts without waste to do trials and find what is most effective. Any amount per day spaced out in more injections per day is more effective for me based on my trials.

The open top vial is not common but that does not mean there are any issues with it. I have never used an ampule so to me that is unknown but that does not mean there are issues with that.

Does it have instructions with it, to say how to mix it? I am wondering how you measure out the powder.

The powder is already in the vial. You don't have to measure that. I found it helpful to notice how small in volume the methylcobalamin was.

Although I have used Oxford's product, I have never purchased it directly from them so I do know not know what instructions they include.

I found it nerve-wracking to make the decision to try it and to mix it the first few times. Once I spilled a whole vial that was heartbreaking.

Should you decide to do a trial and the directions are not sufficient PM me and I will go back and find the directions I started with.

Thank you Wizard. I will give it a go, as I do well on methylcobalamin. I thought all methylcobalamin had to be stored in a fridge.

I would check the information available and decide if it should be refrigerated or not. That's what I did but I might be wrong.
