question about PAS membership

honestly silly question coming alert ‼️… I’ve been trying multiple times to become a member of PAS however I keep getting error messages when I try to register with payment. But now I just thought if I have access to PAS forum, am I already a member? I tried contacting PAS but to no avail. I haven’t tried to call yet. Maybe I can do that next week. I don’t seem to have a username or email registered in the system.

You can access the forum without being a PAS member. I started by looking in here and then joined PAS later.

Hi Schpsych2414,

I ask questions, I forget words, when overtired I struggle to read. I attempted to walk down some new stairs by a marina and the stripes on them totally confused my brain. That’s P.A./B12D for you.

So, please feel rest assured the illness is difficult and simple things can be confusing. Maybe fill in a general enquiry form via the website. I know they work very hard and have over 8,000 members so it keeps them extremely busy.

Best wishes.

Schpsych2414 The PAS sponsors this forum. It isn't moderated directly by the PAs but by volunteers. If you are having problems with the PAS site then it is best to report it directly to the site and send them a message - down the bottom of the following page.

There are PAS employees listed as admin's but they tend not to be monitoring the forum in any degree of detail.

It may have been a glitch either on the PAS website or at the payment service they are using - Don't know whether you were trying over the weekend or not but if it was the weekend then it may be worth trying again during working hours during the week.

Hi. Not a silly question as there is a link between the Forum and PA Society- as others have explained. :)

Just to say - I’ve used the online form and had really helpful responses very promptly.

Hope you get sorted.

thank you Gambit for explaining to the original poster.

If users of the Forum go to the "about" page it explains that this forum is the initiative of and hosted by the charity but that it is not membership of the Society. The links to our website and how to join or donate are there.

You need to sign up separately to be a member of the Charity and support our research and education initiatives as well as use our dedicated helpline and have access to the members area on our website.

Hi. You are not alone.

I registered to become a member of PAS about 5 weeks ago. I completed the form online and made a payment. When I made the payment the page went off screen. I logged in but it seems I wasn't logged in as I couldn't access the members area on the website. However, a message box appeared saying Welcome and do I want to log out!!!

I managed to speak with someone from PAS and their IT person contacted me via email and apparently there is no record of my name or of me making a payment, yet it recognised my name on a Welcome page.

Fortunately the payment did not go through. I gave up and not bothered again. At first I thought it must be me just being unlucky but perhaps there is some kind of fault.

Hope you have better luck.
