My body uses sun for many processes, some that are not known. In fact when I had more sun energy I was able to better adjust to my life long B12 deficiency until it was severe enough that I could not.
It was not until November 2020 that I became so sun energy deficient that I could not function and could not adjust to my B12 deficiency and was hospitalized.
I intuitively knew I needed a lot of sun energy my whole life and that is why I worked outside most of my life and ended my career as a environmental scientist. I knew in first grade I was not going to ever be an office dweller.
Ironically I had issues with temperature regulation and the heat caused me to suffer. I was able to adjust by swimming often and taking a quick dip right before I slept.
I have read more about sun energy than B12. When I first started reading D3 and K2 were not available and the consensus was vitamin D only served to raise your blood level.
Well here is the thing. I was sun deprived the last couple of weeks and I was fortunate that the weather allowed me to address it.
D3 with K2 helps a lot from October to April. It is no substitute.
The medical information on sun energy is typical and for me only a place to start.
Here is what I find helpful when getting sun energy.
--I never get sunburn. Not even pink. Not only do I believe that is a real threat to getting skin cancer it makes my body work harder.
--When it is overcast I can still get sun energy. Up to 80%. Being out in the rain makes my body work harder than it needs to unless I shower and sleep afterwards.
--I can get sun energy when just my face is exposed.
--Reflected sun from snow, ice or water is more beneficial to me.
--Tanning booths are only useful for me to prepare my body to get sun energy when sun energy is available. It makes it easier to get sun once it becomes available. A stop gap measure and not a solution.
--Blue light for seasonal affective disorder does not benefit me.
--I have found that sun energy in the morning, at the sun's apex and in the evening are different and I need all three.
--I find it hard to get sun energy when my body is cold and find it helpful to walk until I am warm. No matter how cold it is.
--Flying to the sun for three days for me and others is simply a break and the effect only lasts a few days and I am right back my former level of sun deprivation. It takes 10 days of getting sun and sleeping a lot to have any long term effect.
--10 days traveling to the sun in December is more effective and therefore more valuable than January. Pretty much the more sun deprived I am the harder it is to replenish.
--Flying to Florida I have found anything north of Palm Beach for 10 days to be a risk of spending more energy than I get due to the available sun due to weather.
--It is often said that when your shadow is shorter than your height you can not produce vitamin D. It is also said that you can not produce vitamin D north of a certain latitude. This is false and pseudoscience practiced by professionals.
--I find that if my shadow is the same height as I am than I can relax and not put as much effort into getting sun energy.
Pretty much this writing was a personal review. I have ignored that winter is coming in hopes that the energy spent understanding my B12 deficiency will lead to me better able to make it through the winter.
Anyone know of a cheap place to be where there is sun energy available? 🙂
