10 years ago I was on my porch in the sun one spring and was sick to my stomach and thought " Oh that is just the sun" Then I concluded that the sun should not make one sick. I then went over my life and concluded that when I was the happiest was when I had enough sun and the worse when I did not. (At the time D3 and K2 a was not available. )
I concluded that my body used the sun for many processes other than related to vitamin D. The legitimate literature at the time supported that Vitamin D would get you a good blood test and not much else.
Ironicy the heat was an issue for me.
So I decided to get enough sun. In the summer I got lots of sun. In the winter I went south by car until I got to the sun. I flew to Florida. I went to Ecuador for a month and then two years later I went to Ecuador for 5 months.
It was definitive the sun was good for me in a way that was not normal.
So when I went to Ecuador for 6 months I crashed. The reason was I used up my B12 because I could with enough sun. I figured this out about a year ago. The crash was 6 years ago.

Very interesting! We have concluded I too need more sun. It affects my well being in so many ways, beyond vit D and brightness (i have multiple light boxes at 10,000 lux), and it's even more apparent now that B12D is addressed. I live the equivalent to southern canada and it's by far not enough sun for me, so hopefully we will move in the near future.
I did a lot of research on the sun and this is what I use for me.
It is best to not get sun deprived and if I do it takes 10 days in the sun to make any difference other than temporarily. My body can use sun energy with small amounts of sun, however if my shadow is shorter than I am tall it is very hard. Morning sun is more effective. Reflected sun of water is better for me, ice and snow are not as good as water but better. On a cloudy day I can still get sun energy it just takes longer. If I am cold it is harder to get sun energy.
Artificial light is not sun energy for me but is useful to stop depletion.
I over time can tell when I crave sun energy before getting depleted. I was going to walk in the woods and just changed my mind and will kayak if I crave the sun.
I have talked with many friends and they concur with my understanding.
Can you elaborate on what you meant by The reason for crashing was I used up my B12 because I could with enough sun. ? I think many people use up their B12 from doing to much activity. I am very interested in the association between the sun & B12D.
There is no official/blessed association with B12 and the sun other than vitamin D. There is no dogma about sun energy.
When I had enough sun I could utilize more B12 and use it up. As a result of having more sun energy I was more active. This is a life time thing for me.
I no longer use up my B12 as I supplement enough so that is not an issue. I also supplement three times a day.
I do have issues as I become more active and experience more in my life of my neurological system healing and needing more rest and sleep.
I do regulate how much and what I experience by limiting the amount of time of these experiences.
I am pretty good at taking it easy while engaged in an activity. I am currently working on how much I can do over a 3 day span without needing so much rest and sleep.
One cool thing I came up with is dealing with the clocks being changed and jet lag. For a few days I look in the sky a few times during the day and then the same for a few days afterwards noting where the sun is. It does not matter if the sun is behind the clouds as long as I look where the sun is.
Thank you.. I thought that was what you meant when you spoke to using up your B12 & the sun. The sun enabled you to be more active, hence you burn thru B12 more quickly.. Same here. ...
