Posting etiquette / reminder about not hijacking people's posts

A reminder that we should all be very mindful not to hijack people's posts with irrelevant stuff and/or our own questions/comments that sideline the original topic.

In those cases, just start a new thread and copy/paste a link to the original post or relevant text.

Also note that the original poster gets a notification for every new reply added anywhere in a thread, and there's no way to turn it off.

I'm certainly guilty of this myself, getting caught up in side discussions, so I'm not judging -- just reminding us all to be more respectful of everyone's posts and the topic being discussed.

Anyone can also "use the REPORT function to advise the Admin team of any post that contains dangerous or misleading advice, offensive or abusive comments, trolling, spam, or anything else that you feel is inappropriate. The report button can be found in the 'arrow' drop down menu at the bottom of each post or reply. A report form will appear on the screen - please complete and try to add a few words to explain why you are submitting the report. Reports of abuse go directly to all the Admin team and will be dealt with a quickly as possible (by whoever sees it first)."

This and more tips are mentioned on this admin post that everyone should (re)read. healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po.... "ADMINISTRATORS' ADVISORY NOTE: POSTING GUIDELINES/ETIQUETTE. How to Get the Best Out of Your Posts / The Forum."

😂😂😂 never heard that one 🤔

In the US we say to talk one's head off - equally bizarre 😂 there might be other saying but they're not coming to me at the moment!

In the UK we say laugh our heads off, which seems more logical...😉

True or not?

The phrase originates in Ireland. Donkeys (or "asses" or "jackasses" as they are called in other parts of the world) do not naturally sit down on their rear ends. In fact, it is an extraordinary achievement to get one to do it. "Talking the hind legs off a donkey" is a literal translation of the Gaelic, which actually means "making a donkey sit down on its rear end". Thus, when a person can talk the hind legs off a donkey, they can talk so much that they could even bore a donkey into sitting down.

Thank you - a good reminder as it’s so easy to chat like mates in a coffee shop which is a sign of comfortable relationships.

But noted and Apologies in Advance and Retrospectively! Permission given to anyone to remind me when I go off topic!

Just fed my donkeys and they are not sitting down - even when I sing to them which they love .., for some weird reason as I am NOT a good singer😂😂😂 There I go off topic again 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️♥️😂
