B12 Methlycobalamin injection - will this work?

Hi All

Like many, I'm now considering self-injection as my GP surgery is not providing appointments. I wondered about ordering from skinbrighton.co.uk/b12-inje... They provide a kit which seems easier as a first step as I am finding differing information about the things I need (such a needle size and so on).

However, they offer Methlycobalamin (1mg or 5mg). Is this any good? It's not Hydroxocobalamin (1mg) which I get prescribed. If it's ok which dosage would be best?

I am going to pursue the lack of support with my GP surgery as I'm already experiencing pins and needles. However, I'm also wondering if this is an opportunity to test more regular injections as I'm two years into "post-operative" fatigue which I wonder is just an exacerbation of my original B12 symptoms (diagnosed 2015).

This is a great forum - thanks in advance to those who reply!

Liz

Order from Germany.

Don’t spend £100 for crap where you have no idea what’s in it.

Thanks. Did find some info online after posting suggesting not enough research. Just a touch anxious and thought it would be easier option. Will look thoroughly through posts and brave getting own supplies. 🙂

Order B12 from versandapo.de/vitamin-b12-d...

Get needles and syringes from medisave - See this post healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po...

Thanks - somehow missed this post. Very clear - I was unsure about whether it was a blue needle for injecting so this clears that up. X

Methylcobalamin isn’t crap as you well know. Obviously better value for many to get hydro if injecting very frequently and can source and absorb. I stopped reading this group as often due to the way you put down and dismiss anyone who doesn’t agree or have different view points to you. It seems as if your priority is for people to agree with you rather than get the help they need. Particularly in these times, I find this very distasteful.

Did I say methylcobalamin was crap? No.

I did say that anything you buy from that bunch of scammers is as likely to be crap as it is to be anything useful. For a start, I'll bet their methylcobalamin (if that's what it is) hasn't been stored properly. It needs to be refrigerated or it goes off.

Then there's the fact that their stuff possibly might not contain any B12 at all. Unlike B12 for medical purposes, B12 for other purposes does not have to undergo rigorous testing.

As Deborah Meaden said to two similar 'entrepreneurs' charging people a fortune for B12 - "They are all that's wrong with this world". But, if you want to pay people £100 for untested B12, that's fine. Just don't complain at me when I point out that there are cheaper and safer ways of getting the jabs.

Sourcing hydroxocobalamin is pretty easy. Loads of us do it.

Absorbing hydroxocobalamin from injections is easier. I guarantee that, if injected correctly, 100% is absorbed.

As for being helpful - I did post information as to where to buy hydroxocobalamin from. I did post information on where to buy syringes and needles from. Where are your helpful posts?

Calling licensed private medical practices scammers and comparing to the unscrupulous people on dragons den isn’t on particularly on a public forum.

As you contribute to almost every post on this forum, people look to you as a source of information and authority. Many of these people are desperate.

Please don’t let your ego cause you to abuse this power and I politely would ask that you choose your words in general with more care and show respect and compassion for individual’s choices which maybe different from your own.

However, charging about £12.50 for a single ampoule is rather expensive. (That is the incremental cost when going from 6 to 10 ampoules so all the other costs of handling an order, etc., have already been accounted for.)

The clinic does seem rather more proud of Cocoon acoustics by Harman Kardon than my local NHS surgery. :-)

But the website does have its moments. It claims Luxury, contemporary clinic in an accessible, discrete location

And alongside is a picture of what appear to be at least 30 stone steps through the grounds up to the building without handrail, or any obvious alternative. Of course, if you go round the other side you might be able to park your car within feet of the door. But it is the choice of the picture to illustrate the words that amuses.

One of those two on Dragon's den was a 'licensed medical practitioner'. They were charging people over the odds for vitamin B12. They are the same breed of vulture.

I would stick to what you are used to. Hydroxocobalamin.

I recently decided to order from Germany and took advice on here.

I'd decided before knowing what the surgery were going to do as wanted to self inject between to see if I could get on with life a little better.

Thanks. I agree. I maybe read too many posts as there is contradictory info at times. Have kept to most recent and have order ready for medisave. Thanks for replying. x

It looks like a beauty saloon treatment to make you feel better for a couple of hours.

It’s not the medical B12 you need.

Use hydroxocolabamin.

Good luck

I used to get from there. Private medical clinic. Great product and service. The GP is lovely and very helpful. A lot more expensive than hydro tho so probably not good if you inject very frequently but if you inject monthly, still want a gp service and can afford it, it’s very good. If you are confident going at it alone and don’t need medical advice etc. maybe get hydro from Germany if you can

Thanks for all the replies. I emailed my surgery today about return of symptoms - and got taught to self-inject this afternoon! Feel I was finally listened to. Nurses rock!!

Use Medisave, for needles and swabs, and get the fluid from Germany, so much cheaper. The worst part will be the first injection, use your thigh and watch a few u tube videos first. Top tip from me, cool the area first, with a cold flannel. My nurse told me off for rubbing the area pre injection, it seamed like a natural thing to do. Good luck
