any advice please

I’m having the weirdest of times just now..

I redid all my anemia testing ,it had been a year since I did them so as I thought my iron was maybe too low and that’s why I felt tired all the time I thought I’d have it all checked and also Dr K at the infusion centre in Cambridge advised me to do them and forward results and he’d further advise..

I got a shock when I did get the results, same private gp as last time and same labs,my results have almost doubled, iron increased from 10 to 19.2 range 6.6-26.0 and transferrin saturation doubled from 17 to 32 range 20-55. Ferritin is increasing again it’s back up to 521 I’m not surprised as I’ve got gynie probs at the moment and my inflammation is quite high I guess..

I’m wondering why I’m suddenly absorbing again if I have p.a ,positive intrinsic factor and functional b12 diagnosis..It does confuse me any ideas? Would it be because I’ve settled on a twice weekly shot for this last year and avoided gluten like the plague so my guts absorbing better maybe?

I’ve just did blood draws for thyroid testing again god it didn’t half hurt my poor fingers, I’d to use the three lances not good for a needle/ blood phobic lol I really struggled with that one not doing that again..

I had to get an emergency optician appointment yesterday as my eyes have been worse than ever so more Not Great News I have a macular hole in the eye where I had the head injury so been referred to hospital so go knows how long* that’ll take.. I’ve had these oct scans done yearly and no one else picked up on this even though I complained of pain in the eye.,that’s been 5 years now since the original head trauma..

It’s all very challenging isn’t it but I do appreciate I’m luckier than a lot of other members so shouldn’t moan but it feels good to write it down and bounce off someone.

Thank you for reading

have they tested your testosterone level?

My ferritin was elevated because my testosterone was clinically deficient. Once that was corrected with replacement therapy the ferritin dropped dramatically and my liver became normal again.

Good morning. I was under a menopause consultant about 5 years ago and my blood results for oestrogen and testosterone were so low they didn’t record at all on blood test results so he agreed to put me on oestrogel and testosterone cream ,I’m sure it was, unfortunately I had bad breast pain and had to stop all hrt it just wouldn’t settle and to be honest ive never really felt I got the best of care then,I’d had a hysterectomy under 40 years old and by that time I was 60 years old and had the battles from hell with then female gp she was so against me having any hrt said I was too old.I actually bought most of what I needed otc in Spain. I’ve run the gauntlet with so many gps/ consultants and had so much bad advice I struggle trying to cope with what to do next,

When I feel a bit more positive I’ll have my testosterone tested again thank you for suggesting that,I’m waiting on thyroid test results coming back now,I tested positive for the faulty DIO2 gene from both parents so far is ive had no benefit from that test so I redid the thyroid yesterday be interesting to see what that comes back with too.many thanks x

I can’t help with levels etc but when you have to have bloods taken - even fingertip - make sure you have drunk a lot and are really warm, gloves on for fingertip, it does help.

well that’s another surprise I just got my thyroid tests back all normal no anti i bodies alls fine, isn’t that strange after having a positive DIO2 test think my bodies playing games with me lol..

Dr K was so kind and looked at my anemia results for me and again alls well everything’s well in range and no iron transfusion needed, the man’s been kindness itself bearing in mind he doesent know me from Adam and has never met me,yet took timeout of his busy schedule to advise me,I’m very impressed,a decent human being so rare in these days of cash orientated medics I’m afraid..

I’m now going to continue with my one or two weekly shots of b12,eat well and exercise when I can and try and chase up my eye appointment and live life to the fullest I possibly can. Take care all x

may e you need to do more frequent b12 injections. I would just end up so tired on weekly, so I have stuck with daily/eod with hydroxo
