B12 Injections/B12 Drops ?

I have had a number of neurogical symptoms for over a year so my GP agreed to my having EOD B12 injections for two weeks - my main improvements were instant, I was waking earlier 7am - (against 9am or later) and able to watch television without falling asleep in the evening - he then agreed to my having a further to weeks of EOD B12 injections - at the end of this time - I started to feel different with the lessoning of some of the symptoms - this only lasted two and a half days and I then had to wait eleven days for an appointment with my GP - by which time all my symptoms had returned and I was back to square one - ? My GP does listen and take me seriously so has reinstated my injections for another two weeks - while he asks for further advice. Last week I had the B12 on Tuesday and Thursday - and have to wait until this afternoon for my next one - and have struggled to get through the weekend feeling really ill and weak - my worry is that this week I can only have Monday 3rd and Wednesday 5th injections and will then have to wait until Tuesday 12th after Easter for the next one -

I have also asked if I could SI B12 - and although my GP seemed happy with this - the nurse has suggested that I would not be able to cope with it - and even if this were to happen - I am not sure that I would be allowed enough to continue with EOD -

My question is - would it be beneficial for me to use 5,000 mcg B12 Drops daily in between the injections - just to keep me more level - ?

In my recent blood tests my B12 was >2000 - but I did notice that my Folate had dropped from 18.22 in January to 11 - so am wondering if I should take a B Complex with Folate to bring the levels back up ?

I would be grateful for any advice that you can give me please.

Many thanks

I think it is up to you if you can cope with self injecting and it might mean that you get more regular injections and for longer eod as GP wont be so conserned about cost. You could try some drop or patches in between to see if they help and a B complex would be a good idea. Dont let that nurse make you feel incapable.

Thank you so much Hectorsmum -

I spoke again yesterday afternoon with the nurse re SI, and she is going to instruct me when I go for my appointment on Wednesday so all being well I will be ok to continue that way -

Although I do seem to need EOD injections I am not happy to do anything privately that my GP is not aware of, and hopefully he will be willing to give me a prescription to allow me sufficient to continue in this way - I have also asked to continue at least until my next appointment with him on the 20/4. I will also order some B Complex to start right away and B12 drops to hold in reserve - Thank you for your help - Lemondrizz

B12 drops may help. There's only one way to find out!

I understand that you wish to keep faith with your GP. However, if it ever comes to choosing between your well being or keeping your GP happy then, like many of us on this forum, you have to prioritise your health.

With an unwanted gap after loading . .like you, Gp wanted advice.

Mine came from a neurologist twice .

One gp partner just emailed one to cover his back I think.

I chose to buy some too as worried during lockdown things wouid change .

Three was some problems prescrib8nh needles so I bought them.

I'm sure you will get on fine

I trued sublingual, sprays tablets in the hope to reduce injections but didn't work for me.
