On the lighter side.

I was thinking that those UK folk seem to be all about more even numbers. They only inject 1 or maybe 1.5 mg and no other dose.

I was also thinking how clumsy are these folks that they can dull a needle by touching the glass.

You see the B12 that I was able to procure the USA came in a vial usually 50 ml not a ampule. There is a rubber type disk in the top and the needle is jabbed through the rubber into the vial. Not an issue hitting the glass and dulling the needle.

This also explained how I increased my B12 injections. I had the option of increasing 1 mg at a time.

It was a a am a dumb ass moment. 😜

In the U.K. we only have single use ampoules . They are really the safest option for domestic use . There is always a danger of contamination with a vial containing 50 mls , which, in a domestic situation , would take some time to use up . . .

You don’t need to be terribly clumsy to accidentally touch the side or bottom of the glass ampoule with the needle , to make it blunt . ( ouch!) So we use a separate withdrawing needle, so that the injection needle is 100% sharp .

but isn’t clumsiness part of the symptoms for some people? I know I am when low on B12 and also walk into things like door frames 😱

Yes , it is ! Just don’t get low on B12 —Self inject if your GP refuses to give you the injection more regularly.

I used to have a very high level of manual dexterity that I used to make things - PA destroyed it and I even had problems using a pencil. Its now returning after 3 years injecting EOD.

I understand that the stance in the UK is that single use ampules are the safest and I want to protect PAS by saying that is their recommendation and it is NOT wrong.

However, my father was a diabetic and for 40+ years used multi use vials like WIZARD6787 is talking about. This and also medical staff telling me it was ok, convinced me to use the multidose vial for the first 1.5 years using safe practice of only using the needles once, and always sterilizing the top of the vial. however, I decided to switch to the single use ampules only because it was the only container that had higher concentrations. I don't like having to do 3ml of injection to get 3MG of B12. Rather I can get 3MG of b12 in a smaller volume from Germany.

Thus not one solution suites us all.

I still want to remind that the single use ampule is ultimately the safest option than multi-use.
