It's working!! It's working!!!

I think I may have unintentionally injected sub cut instead of IM, but whatever I did, I'm feeling much better already! I was taking B12 via an oral spray for the last year, so I l already had some stores of B12 in me.

I started to feel the effects a few hours after I injected, I got up from the couch without any difficulty, and I spent the evening being able to walk around the house without staggering all over the place...

I was wondering if I should give myself a second one - maybe go every other day? But I held off, cos today I had to go sign on. The office is over 2km/2miles from my house and I no longer drive, so that's a looooong walk, especially when you've little to no B12 in your system.

I've been having to walk down there for the past 12 months since the Irish government decided to end all lockdowns and other Covid protocols (I still wear a mask). Initially it was fine, I was a bundle of pent up energy from lockdowns, then as the months wore on I started to fail badly. I started using a B12 oral spray, which helped but not much.

One particular day I had to sit down 5 times on the way home to avoid collapsing

Today I set off and walked all the way there without struggling!

I went into the supermarket next door to the office, and had a wander around, bought a couple of things, then set off, intending to just go home, but emboldened by my new super-powers, I went to Aldi, had a walk around there and bought some bits'n'pieces.

Then I went to Lidl as well, and bought more stuff!! I spent far too much money, but it was mostly food...walked home, didn't have to sit down or stop to lean on a wall once!

I got home about an hour ago, and I've recovered from the exertion already!! Usually it can take me up to 4 days to recover from that much walking!!

I'm so thankful I found this site, and so, so grateful to everyone for the information as to where to get B12!!!

Yay, that's great to hear. 😀

Its wonderful when your body starts behaving itself again. Just don't overdo it too soon, even though its tempting, as your body still has some hard work to do during healing.

I had weekly treatment to start and it was good for a couple of days then crashed a few days before the next one.

Once on every second day, it took a while , but things got worse before they got better. Nearly a year on. And it’s definitely helped me to cope with my other issues.

Unfortunately in my case I've no option but to keep going, I've no car any more, and what with Covid people aren't willing to give me a lift anywhere, none of the shops in town do deliveries, and I'm far beyond the delivery radius of any big supermarkets in the city.

I do rest between trips, and now that I have the B12 etc I can dose myself if I feel the need 😀

I was trying to say that it can get worse before it gets better, due to reversing out symptoms. And that I persevered with it.

You just have to take one day at a time.

Yay! St Patrick’s Day arrived early for you! 🍀

Wonderful news but don’t run before you can walk. This is very much the pot calling the kettle black! 🥘

The B12 does boost your energy but we also need it to heal and in simple terms as I am an engineer, not a medic, it can’t concentrate on both at the same time - B12 can’t multi-task - B12 is unlikely to be female! (Sorry males of the species no offence intended) So celebrate a busy day with a few quiet days at least and when any symptoms return self inject.

I keep a journal and after almost 4 months of self injecting I am only just stating to see there is increasing opportunity to do a bit more OR extend the time between doses - but not both. By looking at my journal I currently need one rest day for each full day. If I do back to back busy days I need more rest days to recover.

Great to share your good news.

So you are an engineer! That explains a lot😀 I am an environmental scientist and owned an engineering firm. Engineers are trained. educated and gain experience. They explore, discover then create. The physicians I have encountered are just trained. Very similar to regulators, checkbox jockeys and they most often are not even good at that.

I have bad neuropathy in my feet, and slightly in my face and hands (peripheral neuropathy) that my mother's doctor (she's not my doctor, and I keep saying she's not my doctor and please stop letting her interfere with my...but they're not listening) won't hear a word of my having anything wrong with me. She seems to be convinced "Saoirse looked something up on line and bullied 6 people into agreeing with her."

Anytime someone contradicts that doctor she dismisses it out of hand, and like I said I keep telling 'em "don't speak to her, ignore anything she tells you, she's not my doctor, and never has been" but they listen to her and that's the end of that.

So knowing what I have wrong with me I'd started using an oral spray of B12 which was helping a teeny bit - I now have slight feeling in my feet, and my face and hands are better.

Hopefully the injections will help even more, and hopefully one day someone will listen to me and ignore my mother's doctor!

Well done. Consider a change in your appearance; Superman did [does?] it in phone boxes, revolving doors etc, and your new found superpowers need to be advertised! Keep at it.

These tights are terribly see through, and Edna said I can't have a cape, but I'll manage some how!

🤣

Good on you!!! Good effort!! I have what I call spurts. I do better than need recovery time. I as best I can enjoy my spurts for what they are and see it as healing. I see the recovery as also healing the best I can. Not easy.

I think of what John Lennon said “The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time!” Never been more true than now in my life.

Thank you for that! I am going to go buy a children's coloring book I have been coveting and take my colored pencils and color while I have breakfast. Then I might go see if there are any ships on the River Clyde.

Colouring is great for relaxing your mind, you can get colouring books for adults on Amazon (not XXX rated adult colouring books, just books with pictures to colour in!!!)

It's good for my neurological system and my soul. The adult ones are to detailed for me, its like a job. I use kids colouring books.

I got one book where the pictures are really intricate, went cross eyed trying to colour them. Think I'll try kids one!

I've no Tescos near me, so I buy from Amazon, some times I search for Mandela patterns and print them off - as long as they're not too intricate

WIZARD6787 profile image
WIZARD6787 in reply to Saoirse2016

I make Mandela patterns with an Autocad program I use for work. I would send you one but I am in Scotland and that computer is in the USA so I don't have to do any work! I used spirograph as a child and when those pens ran out of ink I made my own with a protractor. I use Prismacolor colored pencils in the USA. Here I use Stadler.

in reply to Saoirse2016

That is SO funny! I love to color for relaxation and the first time I heard of "Adult Coloring Books," I thought it was porn! How dumb was that??

So did I! Saw the in Lidl one time and was shocked (shocked I tells 'ee!!). Thankfully I didn't have to write to Mary Whitehouse to express my disgust!

in reply to Saoirse2016

I'm laughing even though I have no idea what you're talking about - Lidl? Mary Whitehouse? I'm from the US. :)

Mary Whitehouse was an English woman who used to write letters to the BBC complaining about obscenities and anything that offended her...

Ohhh...we had some of those too - but now everyone is a Mary Whitehouse if they want to be with the internet.

I’m also in the US—Virginia Beach, VA.

I personally do not know anyone with pernicious anemia on life-long B12 shots like me. I would love to talk to you over the phone, but I do not know if healthunlocked forum’s rules would allow me posting my phone number.

do the same if you feel rundown ,fighting a bug or virus, you’ll hopefully find, like I do , you’ll recover much quicker.I’ve did hundreds of shots now and on the rare occasions that I do get hit with some nasty I resume loading doses and it works great for me, if you burn it up replace it quickly, that’s what I do I’m OCD with things and I can’t stop until I’ve achieved what I wanted, physically and mentally ,so my only way of coping with that is replace what I’ve burned up asap.

Best wishes x
