An ampoule opener that works.

Hi

Can anyone tell me where I can get an ampoule opener that works.

I have had a couple cheaper ones but both have broken the ampoule! I don’t mind spending a bit more.

I've just checked & if you go on Amazon & type in "Snapit" the ampoule opener I bought is there & it has never failed me once. Good luck 👍

I put a antiseptic wipe over the ampoule and snap it open, works every time.

I have arthritis in my hands so it’s difficult to snap off.

If you look on my profile I did a post 6 months ago called Ampoule snapper which shows a photo.

I am unable to copy the photo unless I start a new post, unless there is a way of doing it I'm not aware of.

Have you tried a top off a biro? Yes, serioiusly, very useful little piece of plastic

A piece if tissue /loo roll wrapped around the neck and top helps some people

Also, are you checking where the 'dot' is on the neck of the ampoule? You should break the neck AWAY from this dot (indicates the weakest pint)

Alternatively, if you had a little file, you could gently file a little bit on the neck of the ampoule, over the dot, to weaken it still further. As a nurse, we used to have these little files but I don't know if they are still available. Either ask a nurse working in a hospital, or ask a pharmacist perhaps?

I may be ordering some B12 in glass ampules, which I've never used before, so far have only used the puncture top kind. I had thought you just snapped the top off the ampule with your hands. Assuming no arthritis or other hand-issues, can't you just do it by hand?

With one exception, which was probably my fault, the tops of my Rotexmedica ampoules break open easily enough by hand.

Am I just lucky? Can I expect to meet my comeuppance one day or should I just carry on?

Watched a Youtube video- ("sensible-pants-man", if you're out there: thanks !) - and if you check where the dot is and face it toward you, use wrapper from the syringe round top, snap it backward away from the dot, it's fine and not much effort.

This won't help you Chocolate41 sadly, but it might cheer you up to know that I was fed up watching young vegans delighting in injection selfies and wanted to watch a serious "how-to" video, finally selecting this one because I believe sensible pants probably = sensible advice !
