hi I have received both cyanocobalamin and methylcobalamin in last week both 1000 mg of each. I feel like i dont have any side effects from the methylcobalamin (except a skin rash on injection site once). but when i get cyanocobalamin i get more dizzy and more sleepy and weak. Does this happen to anyone else? is there such things as a preferred form for the body?

I believe that it’s all down to the individual. We are all different . I don’t believe that one can make any definite judgement . I have used Hydroxocobalamin and Methylcobalamin, and found no difference at all between them .

I’ve never tried cynocobalamin , but it is the most widely used B12 injection in USA and Canada .

Sorry that I can’t be anymore helpful .

My friend in Canada has had all 3 sorts .She found no difference in effect or side effects .

So now sticks with the cheaper form there cyanocobalamin

Yes, I agree with Wedgewood, I have alternated between, cyanocobalamin, methylcobalamin, EOD, noticed no real difference, I currently SI, 1ml EOD methylcobalamin.

MTHFR gene mutation is very common. People who have this gene mutation have issues methylating so they need methylated vitamins. I've heard people with this mutation need to avoid cyanocoblamin and folic acid as it will cause them symptoms...Personally I dont know if I have the gene but I feel much better taking methylocoblamin and methylfolate.

Yes, as Experiment stated. I have the gene mutation. I was on 1,000 mcg of cyanocobalamin weekly injections for the first year. Although, I had no dramatic reaction to it, I was not getting the expected results of nerve and cognitive healing. I switched to methycobalamin and have seen significant improvement with healing and resolving the peripheral neuropathy since starting methyl. Methylcobalamin is a natural form of B12. Your body has to do an extra conversion of cyanocobalamin to cleave the cyanide from the B12 molecule and replace it with a methyl group. Thus stealing a Methyl group which may be needed elsewhere. Methyl groups are important for numerous cellular functions such as DNA methylation, phosphatidylcholine synthesis, and protein synthesis. The methyl group can directly be delivered by dietary methyl donors, including methionine, folate, and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). So if you use Cynocobalamin you are injecting a Methyl USER. Plus your body will need to use energy to get rid of the cyanide molecule. If you're injecting with Methylcobalamin you are injecting with a Methyl donor. I do think that Cyanocobalamin is the least expensive, is manufactured and not a natural form. Methylcobalamin is the most expensive, is a natural form, and requires some extra care in handling as it must be stored out of light and should be refrigerated. I now only use Methyl.

Best wishes, Rex
