Can anyone recommend a good private pernicious anemia doctor anywhere in Scotland? Two NHS GPs ignored my symptoms they don't listen

Hello, I am desperately looking for a doctor who is competent about vitamin B12 deficiency and/or pernicious anemia. I am positive to gastric parietal cell antibodies, my B12 levels are 444 (should be between 200-883) so nobody takes me seriously because it's not low. GPs won't even consider injections. I have severe chest pain, low iron profile, daily tachycardia, strong headaches, photosensitivity, pins and needles, loss of smell since childhood, hairloss since adolescence, fatigue, extreme tiredness, now confusion and occasional memory loss short-term.My MMA, intrinsic factor are ok, but ALL MY SYMPTOMS go away after I take 1000ug B1, 2000ug B12 and 400ug B9. Unfortunately they come back after a day, I think because the effects go away.

I clearly have something related to B12 but not many doctors know about it they don't think it's possible because my B12 levels are within range, even if I am positive to gastric parietal cells antibodies.

I am looking for a doctor in the Glasgow /Edinburgh area but anywhere would do. Thank you

Sorry to hear about your challenges. You will find support here from people with plenty of experience who could help to replace what you're missing from your GP's.

Unfortunately, medical science finds the study of nutritional health too overwhelming to offer any training in it. Medics do study anemia, so will cover Iron, B12, Folate as the causes of anemia. Beyond that, I'm afraid very few if any GPs know anything of any real substance about B12.

It sounds like you are already quite clued up though.

Have you already had tests for B12 and IFAB in the past?
